Consider these statistics when it comes to affairs:

Only 5 to 7% actually end in marriage
Of that number, 75% end in another divorce

quote:

According to Dr. Madden:

Most men stay with their wife and family in the long run; the affair is just a wake-up call that the marriage is in trouble.

Affair love vs. real love: The affair is a vacation, but not a real relationship. Once it becomes a real relationship with real-life realities, it ends.

Affair couples aren’t often not accepted as a “real couple” afterward. Instead, they’re shunned.

If the kids know about an affair, they often hate the other person and view this person as a homewrecker who hurt the other parent.

Take the views of these four experts and derive from it what you will. From my take, all of these experts share that affairs happen to fulfill needs and provide an escape from real-life problems. In the end, they aren’t destined to last.

If people really thought critically about these statistics just prior to making a move to cheating on their spouse, do you think they would push the self destruction button on their marriage?

I personally know someone who married the woman he cheated on his wife with. They have kids, too. I think they’re both a couple of phonies putting on a face for the public, but they’ve been together at least 10 years. I don’t particularly care for either one of them.

Lol, uh no, it's over if there's an affair.

A lot of people prioritize short term gratification over long term stability and community building.

One night stands are expected behavior for our culture and normalized and applauded. Pornography use is rampant, non-committal casual sex relationships are considered normal. Hookup culture is the norm for younger folks and those practices don't just go away as you get older and it's more concentrated when the majority behave to it's standards.

Of course marriage will continue to deteriorate under the conditions regardless of the long term damage.

Self-fulfillment comes first over everyone and everything. Just look at the trans movement.

Google Limerence, it’s the new car smell. Excitement in an affair or something new. Usually lasts 3-5 years. Then you find out what you are in it for.

It's like taking a poison pill. At some point, the relationship is inevitably doomed because both partners have proven that the other is fully capable of bailing and/or cheating when the going gets tough.

My ex wife married the guy she cheated with. She then cheated on him, and they got divorced. Then married the guy she was cheating with again. Then got divorced again. Why? Cheating.

Kind of like going to a place like Mexico on vacation. It’s nice for a little while, but you don’t move there permanently.

And you don’t turn your side whore into a housewife.

I know of one where it's lasted 20+ years. I figured it wouldn't, but it did.

You should have capitalized when you were married. You could have had a strong pimp hand…
