Back to the Future nitpick

yeah, I know there is plenty to nitpick about the time travel parts, but something else I haven't seen mentioned anywhere.
After Marty finishes playing Johnny B Goode and the crowd is standing around staring at him quite shocked, he says "I guess you're not ready for that yet. but your kids are going to love it"
that song came out only 3 years later and rose to #2 on the charts.
Meaning when these students are still in college (or early work force). Hell any Freshmen at that school were going to love it just a couple years later. But they made it seem like it was a whole generation early.

It’s the Van Halen ending he put into it that drove it over the top.
They were definitely into the song at first.

You sure he didn’t mean rock and roll music

I'm more talking about his "your kids" line.
I mean rock wasn't THAT far into the future.
and yes "your kids" flows better dialogue wise than "your little brothers and sisters".
he just made it sound like he was talking 15-20 years from then instead of like maybe 5 more years (10 tops).

He was saying that not to Johnny B Goode but to the 80s style Van Halen lick he laid down afterwards.
They jammed to JBG

He was talking about really really loud electric guitar music.

How is this not completely obvious? They are rocking out to JBG right up until Marty goes nuts w/his solo and starts kicking over amps.

Actually, yes. The math checks out.
I'll allow it.

He was not talking about the song
He was talking about the solo at the end
If you want to nitpick anything, nitpick the incest

And they make it very obvious in the movie. Everyone is having a grand old time...until Marty goes rogue on his solo and starts trashing shite on stage.
So when he's saying, your kids are gonna love it.
He's referring to 70s rock mostly and that rebellion. So the timeline fits because it's 1955 and they're in high school.

Why didn't the band copy the song? Why call his cousin about it? Musicians aren't that dumb. I know it was for a joke, but that always made me wonder.

Marty invented rock and roll, skateboards, puffy vests, and Tab.

So he sped it up a few years?
I wonder if Chuck Berry had been batting that song around in his head and then when his cousin called, if he was like “what the hell? I was thinking of a song just like that about a guitar player I know.”

It wasn't just one thing. He free styled into an 'old/future' Chuck Berry style guitar solo, then ended with Jimmi Hendrix / Van Halen stage performance which was still another 15-25 yrs down the road.

Was just thinking about that movie today. How come “new” Marty parents at the end when they’re talking about Bif being the reason they fell in love don’t tell their kids about 50s Marty showing up in their lives, offering sage advice, giving George confidence, playing wild guitar at the dance, etc and then disappearing after a week. You’d think he would have made an impact enough to tell their kids with even having one of them that “resembles” this strange young man, right?

What's the mom gonna say?
I was trying to be a hoe with this Calvin Klein guy and he didn't want it for some reason so I married your peeping Tom father because he punched out Biff who was trying to rape me, who now washes our cars
