DeBoer straight up owned Lanning (5-0). Bama just got a helluva coach unfortunately.

Hell he owned Sark too
dumb thinking. Yall are looking at the now instead of the future. Lanning was the real prize. DeBoer is good, but not great. This is going to backfire.

West Virginia, while maybe not traditionally southern, is still pretty damn southern

Nobody has forgotten about recruiting. They just realize you don't have to be a hick that can't speak proper English to recruit and win championships. The GOAT college coach wasn't a redneck from the south and it didn't hinder his career. May have helped him
I don't think yall understand that Saban is a completely different entity than the average coach. You can not use him as an example. DeBoer literally has 2 years at a power 5 program. In those two years, he has 2 guys in the top 100, and nobody else in the top 250.

Anyway, time will tell, and it will prove I'm right yet again lol.

He’s had one high profile job and luckily had Pennix. Very risky pick for mid western

Can we use Urban Meyer? He had never coached in the south until Florida.

The "he won't be able to recruit in the south" is just wishful thinking for the Tards on this board

Eh.

Small sample size. Inherited a solid roster from Cristobal. We'll see how he does in the B1G.

So far, based on his big game record, he gives off James Franklin vibes. (1-4 against his rivals, with the 1 win coming the day before Jonathan Smith left Oregon State for Sparty).

If I was the AD at Alabama, he would’ve been on my top five list so considering how conversations went we don’t know … I don’t think it’s a bad hire.

I don’t see DeBoer winning 10 or 11 SEC games consistently like that fan base will expect. He’s a good coach when he was handed a great QB and good WR’s but his defense was really bad. That won’t fly in Bama any better than it did for BK here. Norvell or Lanning scare me way more than this guy.

Bama will be good under him but not elite.

Are you saying that Les Miles was a great coach?

Same thing was said about Nick Saban and Urban Meyer. They both won national championships in the south. Don't worry about his recruiting, it will be okay.

Guy has never signed a top 200 prospect. It's a fair question.

And his team played in the national championship game earlier this month?

Must be a horrible coach

Washington was probably the best coached team I saw last year... his coordinators are outstanding.. if they come with him, it is a big deal.

How many of their games did you watch? They won quite a few close games against pretty mediocre teams. We will see.

After winning the PAC12. Jury is out on how great of a coach he is.

With a sixth year QB and their five most used skill position players all being fourth or fifth year guys. He's not getting that at Bama. I'm not even saying he's a bad hire or will be bad, just that their are fair questions. This isn't a sure thing hire.

frick yes I’m dying for another Shula in gumpville. Why the frick do you say that like it’s a bad thing for a real LSU fan to want that?

You miss the point. People are so desperate for another Shula they are making stupid arguments as to why he won’t work out.
