His success is a mirage…most of the players on his team were 5 and 6 year players…like 80%of his defensive starters
This is a bad hire and I am so happy….

Fresno State & Washington isn’t quite the same as SEC

Neither was Michigan State or Oklahoma State.

And what does Kelly know about the south before coming here.

Some of you are just dying for another Shula in AL.

This is such an antiquated thought process. Especially with NIL and the portal it matters less now than ever, so who gives a flying frick?

How many HC have had success at schools where they weren’t born regionally close? Lots of them! Chief among those are Saban and Meyer. BK is on his way to it right now.

DeBoer is clearly a good coach. He may or may not have success if he goes to Bama, but either way it will not be because he’s “not from there”

me too. I've said it many times that his success is lightning in a bottle. This is going to backfire in hilarious fashion.

frick yes I’m dying for another Shula in gumpville.

Why the frick do you say that like it’s a bad thing for a real LSU fan to want that?

It’s a decent hire. Lot of risk and unknown with DeBoer tho

As an LSU fan, I’m happy with it

He looked anything but confident in his on field interview before the championship game, and the way his team played I can see why.

His lack of confidence, at least outwardly, made me think less of him as a coach.

Any speculation as to how well he will be able to recruit?

Lanning
DeBoer straight up owned Lanning (5-0). Bama just got a helluva coach unfortunately.

Hell he owned Sark too

It seems like it’s pretty much a done deal. Bama will give him whatever he asks for. Would have to be a lot of drama for someone else to get the job at this point

It's hilarious than many people here have completely forgotten about recruiting.

Nobody has forgotten about recruiting. They just realize you don't have to be a hick that can't speak proper English to recruit and win championships. The GOAT college coach wasn't a redneck from the south and it didn't hinder his career. May have helped him

The last coach Bama hired from the state of Washington didn’t work out too well.

Hope that Kalen can stay out of the Tuscaloosa strip clubs.

Really good coach but like Hunt Palmer said on his show that Saban fear factor is no longer there.

Just have to hope the DeBoer fear factor won’t be as large in the future
