Joe Saward saying Antonelli may replace Sargeant once he turns 18, which is right before the Italian Grand Prix. LINK

Damn, the piling on continues...

1. First there was 1997 WDC Jacques Villeneuve before the season even started: “Ricciardo is a pure product of image and modern social media. You can’t base his long career on results. You just can’t. They don’t stack up. It is amazing. He can thank Netflix and all that kind of stuff. His smile, his attitude in the paddock in front of the camera. Ultimately even against Tsunoda he doesn’t do brilliantly. But he brings value to F1 and that’s why he is there. There are many drivers who are as quick as him but don’t have his image."

2. Then there was 1980 WDC and fellow Aussie Alan Jones: "At the end of the day, we can’t be blaming the car all the time, which has been a bit of a tendency in the past."

3. Now it's 1996 WDC Damon Hill with the comments...

audioboom.com/posts/8480775-ferrari-in-the-fight-mclaren-in-the-mix-how-can-ricciardo-recover-2024-japanese-gp-preview
quote:

"Maybe he's one of these drivers who's matured too quickly," Hill told F1 Nation. "You get to the point where you become fussy about how you like your car. When they're very young they don't ask the question. Look at Ollie Bearman. They get one go. They don't know anything else. They just drive. Once you've had lots of experience, sometimes the experience overwrites everything else and you're looking for that good experience again in the set-up and feeling from the car when it's not going to come because it’s a different car."

"Someone like Yuki's been told, 'You've got to drive it, this is what it is' and is just getting on with it, and Daniel's looking for something else. Some drivers have a style. They need a set-up, they need a kind of car, but you can't get it. At some point you have to go to Daniel: 'Listen, your career is about to evaporate. You just have to get over it and just drive this damned thing and not look for perfection. You're never going find it. It's not coming. You're going to have to find a way to drive this thing and wring its neck, because you're getting beaten'."

But then Damon got reflective that maybe people are being a little unfair regarding Danny because everyone is underrating Yuki:
quote:

"Now the other thing is, it's a bit sad, for us to interpret this as being Danny's lost form. Yuki's gained form... he's definitely driving brilliantly. You know he's driving very well, so it's a little bit unfair to diminish Yuki's performance, just because we assume Danny should be beating him. You know I think Tsunoda has moved up(?) leaps and bounds!" [not sure what word he used there]

We've talked a little about Silverstone. I'd rather go there than any race in the states.

Really need suzuki back in MotoGP. It would also be great to get less ducati and more of others like BMW, Kawasaki, Triumph, etc.

I have but wouldnt recommend it if you can find some cheap grandstand seats. Just too many GA people and not enough space. Very few spots where you can see racing action.

Used to be cool back in the old days before DTS. Now you need a seat if you want to see any racing.

suzuki made the inline 4 somewhat competitive. Yamaha has fallen off the edge of the earth. The inline 4's days are definitely numbered. KTM and Aprilia have occasionally shown some grunt against the 57 Ducatis on the grid. Honda looks even worse than when they let Rossi move to Yamaha and push their shite in with a mediocre bike.

Didn’t realize he came from Money too, his family has quite the checkered history in shipping over the last 20-30 years

I must have missed it, but what is the drama with Toto and him skipping Suzuka?

Sounds like he will be there now, but SkySports made it sound like he was originally going to skip due to their piss poor performance?
