Wouldn’t mind having him coaching LSU’s DL

Mike Elston. And he’s coming.

Coached under Kelly several years. Kelly tried to bring him to LSU when he was hired but he turned him down and stated it was because of “family reasons.”

He’ll be announced tomorrow

A man who spent 2004-2021 on Brian Kelly's coaching staffs at 3 schools.
But also a man who played at Michigan, got his coaching start at Michigan, coached at 2 other universities in Michigan, probably turned down LSU initially to return to Michigan and just won a title at Michigan.
Soooo it may be a long shot.

Depends. If Harbaugh leaves and they go with an outside hire, he’s likely gone.

That depends on the person you’re asking to leave. It may be easier for him going out on a high note winning a title. Harbaugh’s decision will obviously play a role, as well.

Who's the last coach to walk away after a national title? It's unprecedented. They're riding high on good times. If Harbaugh leaves, they're going to promote and retain. Moore gets the job. I guarantee they're not going to let their championship coaching staff be decimated and start over.

Unless BK is that outside hire, in which case he'll likely stay.
just sayin'...

Hankton literally left UGA after they won the title.

As LSU’s DL coach? And from the sounds of it….along with Corey?
You guessing, or telling?

I know you are referring to head coaches but position coaches and coordinators leave all the time following championships. Pelini in 07 and Aranda in 19 left following a championship.

Both left for head coaching jobs, not lateral titles. Hankton was apparently not the most popular coach in Athens and it was fairly mutual (glad that worked out for us).

Yeah in December 2021 he said this about leaving in ND (from LINK)
quote:
“It’s a family decision for me,” Elston said. “It will always be a family decision for me. It’s not about money. It's truly about my kids want to go to Notre Dame too. It’s a family decision, and that’s why I’ve always really kind of turned down opportunities for myself.
“I want my children to go off to college and when they say to their friends, ‘Hey, I’m going to go home for the weekend,’ they have a place to go. They know where home is, and that’s South Bend for them. I don’t want that to change right now.”
In January 2022, he left for Michigan.

I wanted Elston to follow Kelly to BR the first time. He'd be a tough pull coming off a NC at his alma mater, but with an 18 year working relationship with Kelly and a nice salary maybe it happens.

To be fair, UM is a two and a half hour drive from South Bend.

That sounds like classic "he wasn't that good anyway" coping.

There's the Kelly connection but also Elston is at his alma mater, where he just won a natty.
Idk why you'd move down south to a school you have no affiliation with just to take the same job.
