All I know is it started sometime while Coach O was the head coach.

I did back in 84, my mother called me a loser flashing the L sign, I flashed it back, my Dad popped me up side the head for it, I said Dad I was just telling Mom I was going to LSU. He turned his back and I shot her the finger, she knew , so everytime he was around I did the L sign so to not get popped. He said one day you and your mom don’t agree on much but at least y’all agree on what school you’re going to.

Not sure but the left handed L that BK is doing is cringy. I get that he’s trying to do an L correctly but I can’t stand it.

Women’s track and field teams have been doing that for years. Far longer than just recently, but O made it more widely used by all athletes and coaches.
