Birds at your Feeder: 2024

Zone 8 outside ATL.
Birdseed feeder with two suets attached to the side.
Currently:
Downy Woodpecker
Bluebird
Cardinal
Carolina Chickadee
Carolina Wren
Pine Warbler
Chipping Sparrow
Tufted Titmouse
Robin as of 1/8. See them around but not often at the feeder.
There's a new face I haven't identified yet, if I can get a pic I'll post it. General description- about the size of a wren, gray back, white belly, narrow beak, no distinguishing characteristics, which makes it hard to ID. I will call it a shitbird for now.
Whatchall got?

Came in thinking it was going to be some kinky shite about British women.
Left mildly disappointed.

My wife got me a digital feeder for Christmas. So far just some amazing Northern Cardinals and a few chickadees.
My feeders and suet cakes
Downy Woodpecker
Red Bellied Woodpecker
Carolina Chickadee (currently my favorite watching them while drinking morning coffee.
Doves
I had an Indigo Bunting a few months ago. Second time I've had one. I hear pileated woodpeckers every so often, but rarely see them. About 20 minutes south in Stonewall they have a huge population of them.

Download the Cornell bird apps (Merlin ID), they're super helpful for identifying birds.
We get a shitton of birds on our two seed feeders and the suet feeders in the back because of all of the trees we have around the property. These are some I've recorded the last few months:
- Tufted Titmouse
- Northern Cardinals
- House Finch
- Downy Woodpecker
- Red-Bellied Woodpecker
- Common grackle
- Bluejay
- Carolina Wren
- Carolina Chickadee (my fav)
- Morning doves
- Red-winged Blackbird
- American Goldfinch
- Eastern Phoebe
- Turkey vultures (watched two freeze and fall out of our neighbor's Magnolia tree)
- Northern Mockingbird
- European Starling
- Cedar Waxwing
- Yellow bellied Sapsucker

I have a mockingbird that has been running off all the other birds from the feeder I put up about a week ago. He will be moving on to other places soon

Some feeder photos I made a few years ago.
Goldfinch
Male Ruby Throated Hummingbird
I was able to freeze a hummingbird’s wings.

I've had Cardinals, Wrens, Chipping Sparrows (one of my favorite little birds), Rose Finches, Bluebirds (though I need to get more mealworms), too many damn house Sparrows, and I've seen the downies, but haven't been able to draw them to a feeder. This is my first year actively trying to feed them. There have been others that I haven't gotten a good look at and at the feeders on the other side of the house I can't see regularly.
The crows across the way still raise hell every time the hawk pair (I think Cooper's) pass through. That clears the feeders out for a while.

I am sitting in my chair looking at mine now. Have several chirping sparrows and ringneck doves. Saw 7 eastern bluebirds on my fence around noon.
