chappelle said after he signed his big contract, he was filming a sketch for the show and there were some jokes he wrote specifically for black people and the black POV and he noticed some white people on the crew laughing at the jokes. it freaked him out and he realized he had sold out and lost his way, so he told comedy central he was quitting the show and he dropped out

That isn’t why he quit. Chappelle quit over the fact that he didn’t like how he was the best at what he did and the network still wouldn’t pay him what he was worth (ie, what they made off him) and they constantly micromanaged his artistic expression in the show. So he walked. They didn’t think he would and thought they could control him.

And numerous people have since confirmed Katt Williams told the truth about everything on that podcast. He has the receipts for most of it. He has also never been a crackhead.

Katt’s career is dead last I checked due to a number of incidents. He’s beyond giving a frick because I’m pretty sure he is done anyway.

He’s on tour right now and doing pretty big venues. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Exactly

Katt gets a new Netflix special every couple of years and he tours year-round. He has ownership in a number of popular shows including the Nick Cannon one that just ended. And like Chappelle he keeps 100% of the money he makes

He also claims he can run a 4.3 40 and read 8 books a day as a child and got accepted into college at the age of 7.

The 40 speed and his total books are so outrageous that I assumed anyone with a brain knew they were exaggerated.

He has always at least sounded intelligent though.

he’s just not as appealing across the board as the guys he trashes

This is his point. He makes it pretty clear in the interview. Power and influence determine appeal. How are Steve Harvey and Ced more appealing when their entire careers are due to stealing other people's work? The receipts were very quickly all over the internet immediately following the interview. Mark Curry(Mr. Cooper) just got infinitely more attention than he's had in years due to these receipts.

This is true, but there's 2 sides to every story. There's also receipts on the internet from a long time ago of comedians - including Dave Chappelle, for making fun of Kat bc he wasn't reliable. Kevin Hart is on a radio interview making the point that Katt would skip out on promotional appearances, and cancel shows and shite. It seems reasonable to me that power and influence put their money behind talent that can be depended upon to fulfill their obligations. Anyone making a payroll will tell you they pay and promote the workers who, you know, show up to work. The ones slacking off and causing problems typically don't move up.

I LOVE a conspiracy and I do believe what he says about people stealing jokes, and producers or whoever trying to get sexual favors. But this shite about the illuminati and putting black comedians in dresses... come on. White comedians have done dresses too. No one said it was the illuminati when Robin Williams wore a dress. Or Tom Hanks. Or Dana Carvey. Or John Travolta. Or Adam Sandler. Or Jim Carrey... etc etc. Drag is a comedic trope for an easy laugh. But Dave Chapelle and Katt Williams think the illuminati do it to black guys to control them. Come on.

I watched some of the interview. Katt mentioned a few times that he hates doing media and having to "sell himself" on radio. He pointed out that's the reason why he finances all his tours himself. He pays for it all and gets the rewards from it.

Kind of goes against his "I'm not on their level bc I wouldn't suck a dick/wear a dress" angle

He was on Marc Marion’s WTF podcast a while back. He told some of the same stories about his life and growing up. He also said he encountered a bunch of crying hookers whose pimp had been killed, and they begged him to be their new pimp, so he took the job.

Marc said later that he thought the whole interview was an act and that Katt was full of shite.

I watched some of the interview last night (about half) and thought his answers seemed slower than a quick witted comedian usually is.

ETA: no one else thought maybe pain pills or some type of thing? Maybe he was just super high?

But he seems high energy in his comedy specials and he was very sedate in that interview. And rubbed the top of his thighs with his hands constantly (maybe nerves if he was telling the truth on everyone?)

Chappelle alluded to this a lot if you listen to him in his stand up specials. He talked about how he felt like people were laughing for the wrong reasons, where he was making a mockery of black folks for white people to laugh at.

one of the many reasons he quit was he hated Hollywood, he was tired of the 20 hr work days, the impact on his stand up career, he couldn’t control his own show and they took advantage of him, but he took a break from comedy in general because he wasn’t sure if he was helping or hurting the black community through his style of humor.

quote:

On an episode of Netflix's "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman," the TV host featured Dave Chappelle as a guest and immediately jumped into the nitty-gritty — pondering why Chappelle left his famous Comedy Central series, "Chappelle's Show."

In the interview, Chappelle revealed that he was initially "terrified" by his snap decision to leave the show. Letterman soon drew attention to the specific scenario that led to Chappelle's departure.

"When you left your show, there was an episode described ... that somebody on the crew laughed at a sketch you did, and you thought the laughter was on the wrong side of humor," Letterman recalled from his research.

Chappelle then confirmed the story. He clarified that the sketch involved him dressed as "The Black Pixie," per Fader, who, as Chappelle described, would "pop up anytime a person felt the pains of racism."

The comedian maintained that "It's not a bad sketch," but he further added, "Hearing the wrong laugh while you're dressed that way, it makes you feel shame."

And while his decision to leave was "really scary," the comedian stands by his gut. "You've got to face a lot of your fears. Some I faced better than others, but I was determined."

The incident, however, was not the only reason why Chappelle decided to call it quits. Read More: LINK /

24 million views in just a few days in nuts.

No way Katt read 3,000 books a year as a child. That’s like 10 books a day and even if he did no way he would retain that info

Can't disagree with Katts own self induced problems. However, having a job on your own merits and choosing not to show up is far different from only having one because you stole someone else's. Easy to score 20 when all you take is layups.
