Why do y’all compare Perkins to that parsons? They aren’t even close to the same frame. Go rewatch most games this season, he got absolutely owned by sec tackles that got their hands on him.

He will be best used in a 4-2-5 as an extra man in the box safety. Where he will be free to hawk and make plays.

This. I don't get the Parsons comparison. Perkins is like 6'1" 220. I don't think we want to try and have Perkins put on more weight. I honestly would've liked to see him stay at ILB. If we'd have known early on the defense would've still sucked regardless of where we put Perkins, we should've just gone through the growing pains this season of keeping him there like against FSU.

YYYYEEEEAAAAPPPPP. Been saying all season, but as you can tell, the smartest fans in the world want to make him a 220lb DE. You can tell our fan base only repeats the same things they hear other say without actually watching film. Go on YouTube and watch the replays from this season. Watch only Perkins. Yall want to know why he stayed in coverage so much this season? Because on blitzes he was taken out of the game. He doesn't have the size or power to go against 320 o linemen. He'll, he got DESTROYED by a 205 lb RB. Flattened. On his back.

Yall don't want to be wrong, but his best role is a hybrid. Justin Simmons is a great comparison. Jabrill Peppers.

And it wasn't particularly close. He can't be lined up and rush the QB every down. He won't last, and he will be quite ineffective. Need him at a Peppers / Baker / Simmons hybrid role. He will still be able to make a lot of money that way. May even add longevity to his career.

Honey Badger/hybrid type role. Roamer.

Bring Chief in to consult.

Because lsu can’t man up on the back end, or rush the passer. If you spy, you take a man out of coverage or pass rush. Which is fine if your back end can cover every down.

It’s not overly complicated. Just watch film of Micah Parsons and how the cowboys use him. He should be rushing the qb AT LEAST 50% of the time, if not more. It’s so dumb that we lined him up off the ball despite not having any other pass rushers.

No, he should not. Harold Perkins isn't built physically to line up on the line and rush the QB 50% of time like Micah Parsons is. Micah Parsons measures 6'3 245; Perkins measures 6'1 220. The thing with 2022 Perkins was that he caught people by surprise; contrast that with 2023 Perkins, and you will quickly see how offensive coaches scheme around him. If Perkins can get up to 230 with his frame, which is possible, you could potentially have him rush more. You have to pick and choose your spots with Perkins.

He’s 220 lbs. Small for an LB and no way on the D-Line. We’d get gashed on the run and tackles would eat him up in normal pass rush. He has to be moved around. He’s no where near Micah Parsons size. With his speed, free safety type of role is actually his most impactful position. Maybe like Honey Badger.

is that the guy from Clemson a few years ago. If so yes that’s the answer. That guy was great for them. Peppers was also a pretty good companion.

The best way is let Baker coach him up at inside lb. Then play him like the Cowboys play Micah Parsons. He’s blitzing or rushing 75% of the time from either edge or up the middle.

I am REALLY curious to see what Baker does with Perkins. He has typically run a 4-2-5, so he wouldn’t normally be using an OLB. Will he move Perkins back inside? If anyone can make that work better, it’s probably Baker. Or will he keep Perkins in much the same role as a Box Safety? Some of you don’t seem to understand how much a creative DC could use him to wreak havoc from there. Or does he move him all over the place including Jack for pass rush downs only? Do they try to put more weight on him this offseason, or keep him where he is?

Spring should be telling. Looking forward to it.
