This is probably a long shot and I have already posted on the outdoor board, but here goes nothing. My black lab ran off near Satartia Ms on New Year’s Day afternoon and I can’t find him. If anyone sees a black lab with an orange collar and hanging around Ms hwy 3 in between Sataria and Yazoo City Ms his name is Sam.

ETA: Someone eventually saw one of the posts on Facebook and hooked me up with the person that had been taking care of him since Tuesday. I am on my way to get Sam right now! Thank you everyone for the support and good wishes.

I’ve seen some people advertising thermal drone services to recover dogs. Might be an option

Already tried that. The guy from Delta Drone Services out of Rolling Fork has come the last 3 nights after he got off work and stayed for hours flying over the area and would only let us pay him for his gas but we insisted that he take a tip.

Sorry to hear about Sam being lost, read your OB post and am sure you're trying everything possible. But just in case....

There was a thread on the OB some years ago with tips on finding dogs lost in the woods. I couldn't find it but did find a short article that's similar.

Basically, leave a piece of your clothing with scent, and his favorite food + water at the last location Sam was at. Below is the link.

Good luck, lost one of my best hunting dogs years ago and was a wreck until she turned up three weeks later.

He is not exactly a smart dog. He definitely gets by on his looks and not his brains. This is a new hunting camp so he is not familiar with the area. I’m losing hope of finding him real fast especially with this cold rain.

Don't lose hope

When I was a kid our dig jumped out of the car window near Kosciuszko MS. We couldn't find him & I went home heartbroken.

A day or two later we went back to the spot on the road where he'd jumped out. A black farmer walked up to us -- along with our dog!

Still miss you baw, you were a good boy

I know that is why I posted it here.

I am not. I am making a flyer tonight and going to go knock on doors and put flyers in mailboxes at all the houses and camps in the area tomorrow and Sunday. He is fat enough that even if he has not found something to eat that he would have not starved to death yet.

Got a message on Facebook about 45 minutes ago. The dog in the pictures looks like my Sam. I am on my way to pick him up.
