Les Miles never had the brains or balls to clean house like Kelly just did

LSU's entire offensive coaching staff should have been fired after the 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons. Without Fournette and Guice, the same would be said about 2014 and 2015.
Miles' incompetence led to a decade of frustration. It may be a low bar to clear, but I'm glad Kelly can be credited with at least attempting to make adjustments.

Les certainly had the brains and the balls, but there WAS something keeping him from replacing a weak offensive coordinator whom the game had passed up. My guess is that his personal loyalty to his good friend was greater than his desire to win big, but who knows.

If a low bar includes a national championship, I’ll take it. Yes, watching a Les Miles offense became continuously more frustrating as the years went on, but you won’t see me kicking ole Leslie unless someone brings up 1/9.

Les miles won a ring in his 3rd season here. Will kelly?

Miles never wanted anything more offensively than a strong running game, a QB who could also run, and a passing game that was super conservative and didn't turn the ball over. He might have SAID he wanted to open it up, but he was never going to let it happen. 3 yards and a cloud of dust. That was his perfect offense and he was never going to change.

Not with the current talent level on defense.

First time in SEC history a team has a 3k passer, 1k rusher, and 2 1k recievers, but sure...

People ripping on miles still amazes me. That guy gave us better records, better defenses, better recruiting classes and more title appearances than the 2 coaches after him combined

Bo Schembechler disciple. The game had long passed that style of offense by.

I specifically didn't mention 2013. And to my point, that season occurred the first year under Cam Cameron. A new OC should have been hired years before, but instead Miles stuck with Crowton through 2010 and then promoted Oline coach Greg Studrawa in 2011, before finally making an outside hire for OC in 2013.

Les hired the whole 2019 staff minus Busch

He hired Kragthorpe who was an outside guy in 2011, he got sick and that’s when he promoted Stud.
Cam wasn’t that much of an outsider either, he’s Les’s best bud and they had similar philosophies.
Honestly, Les hiring Crowton after Jimbo left was a shocker. And that he let Crowton keep passing so much in 08 when it was clear JLee was int-prone

As Mike Gundy said when he was OC under Les, Les wouldn't do anything that didn't use 2 TE and a FB.
He played slow, jam-packed, big 10 fat boy football with a team deep with speed.
He had the worst offensive philosophy you can think of for the athletes he was bringing in to LSU. The years of ugly garbage offense permanently damaged the LSU fan base.
Maybe now with the 2019 and 2023 offenses they'll see the light and finally let go of the 2 yards and a cloud of dust offensive play style.
Lots here still reminisce about the 50 rushing attempts per game offense with maybe 15 passes.

Less miles was the offense, OC didn’t matter

The guy who was the subject of multiple investigations into improper contact with and use of female students? Hmm, seems the possibilities could be endless in the blackmail material department.

Les never fired anyone. He suggested they take new jobs and he helped get them jobs at new schools. Kelly straight up fired these clowns and they deserved it.
