Is that how she described a "fishing party"? Because a fishing party can refer to a fishing boat/people actually fishing (which would at least make some sense), not literally people partying on a fishing boat.

Yes, that was the gist of her description. I’ll try to find the comments

ETA: found it

i love how shitty the cops were in the series.

The cleaning ladies brought multiple cars and no one thought to check on the tire marks coming from the last foot prints of the frozen dudes?

a stunning lack of care put into this investigation

Even my wife, who as far as I could tell thought it was OK, pointed this out in real time

She's awake

quote:

Well, I’ll tell you the two stories of the tongue, so our audience can pick. Annie was killed by the scientists, as we know. Clark finishes her off, and then they panic and they call the mine. The mine sends Hank, who has a corrupt relationship with the mine, to take care of the body. So he takes her out of the station and dumps her in a place close to the area of conflict between the mine and the hunters, the people that live of the land. And there, he mistreats the body. He’s the one that kicks the body. He’s the one that cuts the tongue.

And all of this is to make it look like it’s a message about the activism against the mine. In my many conversations with John, this is not something Hank enjoys. He disconnects, and it’s a job. It doesn’t mean that he doesn’t haunt him. But I do believe that there is a slight psychopathic streak in Hank to be able to do that violence to a woman. He leaves a tongue there, and walks away.

So what happened to that tongue? The version that will work for the people that will read the series as a completely rational story is that the tongue was found by the people of the village. And then the women who know everything knew that they couldn’t take care of Annie’s body in the way that they would like. So one of them keeps a tongue as an act of reverence and kindness to the body that is still going to go through a lot of indignities. They preserve the tongue. Danvers says in Episode 2 that the tongue has some unusual damage, which could be because of freezing. And then when the women come into the station, they leave the tongue as a sign that now is the time of the truth of storytelling — of our storytelling. The stories that Annie couldn’t tell and was silenced for are going to come to the light.

The other version of events is: Annie is left there, and the tongue is cut and the tongue disappears into thin air. And it is Annie who comes with the women into the station, like she’s awake. Clark says, “I knew she was coming.” Annie does visit the station with the women, and leaves her own tongue, because she knows this is how it starts — that she can finally tell her story.

So it’s up to you to decide.

quote:

You have eight missing men, and you have a human tongue on the floor. It had those elements, and it would be boring that it’s some other guy — so it had to be a woman. Because of the area I was working in, it was a perfect opportunity to talk about murdered and missing Indigenous women. Started piecing together: I understand that the men were implicated in the death of this woman. In what shape? I still didn’t know. The motivation, I still didn’t understand, but I knew it happened then. So it came to reason that what takes them at the end is a result of what happened with that woman.

One thing I love to do in my work is underline the concept that we are at the point in history where we can’t trust the justice machine to come and help us, and that justice needs to be manifested in a different way. So who would avenge the death of this woman? It was obvious that it was the very same women that had been suffering this.

Day one, I knew those two things, and that’s all I knew. I needed to construct everything in between.

I will never trust this show again. I highly doubt they try another season after this disaster

I have to think Nic Pizzolato has been thinking this since season 2, and has been working on a script ever since. IF he has done that, it would have provided him ample time to hammer out a good script and not feel rushed. Not suggesting greatness of S1, but something on par with S3 or somewhere in the middle of those two would really cement Nic P as a show-writer. Hell even Matthew Mcconahey and Woody have to be thinking that as well and if Nic would get a decent script to tie them in or bring them back they would be able to ask for whatever price tag they want after this shite show

What in the world. Just not even considering how outrageous it would be to be out partying on a boat in that weather (I'm not going to pretend to know if people in Alaska get down like that in that weather, maybe that's not out of the ordinary), we I guess need to follow her on Instagram and read all of her comments to understand the details of the show. I'm glad she at least has answers to these questions, it'd be nice if the audience had the answers as well.

I was half expecting her to finish that “everybody knows” sentence with “everybody knows that you party on a fishing boat in the dead of winter in Ennis, that’s just what you do”

When they shined the light and the scientist was standing there, then Just turned and ran and they found the lab, was anyone else thinking it was very scooby-dooish?

As an old multigenerational Southerner there was a lot of truths to season one. How many church camps have been identified as kid molestors, there was a big kid sex ring in Houston in 70s and 80s for wealthy men that was never busted, there were and are demonic cults in the South. They just tied it all together in a beautiful work of fiction.

This shite was someone that took a few truths about Alaska and went fricking nuts. My dad lived in Fairbanks for a decade.

Ice Caves everywhere that last for years apparently unchanged?

Everyone walking around in winter time above artic circle, hanging outside, naked etc. You would freeze to death in minutes. There is a ton of real bizarre shite from Alaska they could have used instead of this shite.

The alcohol and drug abuse, shitty ugly houses, domestic abuse, tension between locals and energy companies, dead bodies in the thaw, and spooky stories etc they all got correct.

Dead Night calling ?????
Is Navarro dead or what?

Thankfully the Watch did not like the ending.

I'm only like 10 minutes in but there are lots of references to issues we had.

Also, I'm going to say that the left turn "they" take to spin this shite show or an ending is to bring up how the show was really about trauma (like how the spin after season 1 was "muh character development" when it fell flat)

Probably the most disgusting this about this whole deal is leaving Navarro's ending up to "interpretation" and managing to glorify her potentially suiciding out. When suicide rates among Native women are some of the highest in the country.

For all of the shitty writing throughout, that might be the worst IMO.

But her native name means out of the dark and into the light or something like that
