Who says baker is his guy? They cleared this defensive staff out with nary a leak. Then baker is publicly announced as the leader ? Meh…smells like baker trying to squeeze more out of Mizzou or start a bidding war in general.

It's an absolute upgrade for him. Gets him even closer to landing a P5 HC job down the road (instead of going the G5 route first) and he talked previously about how happy his wife was to move back to LA his first time around.

I'm leaning this way, too. Sources completely outside of LSU, even Mizzou, break the news that Baker is the top target. How exactly would they catch wind of that? It's obviously coming from Baker's camp. If he was the slam dunk #1 guy, it would have been done quietly and would have leaked after the deal was agreed to.

I’d be happy with Baker, but there are other candidates I’d be happy with as well. I trust BK to do the due diligence and make an important hire.

Especially in the Woodward/Kelly era at LSU. Seems NOTHING leaks out. I have been wondering if it is smoke just like the "we can't afford the buyouts". If there isn't an announcement by Sunday, my money is on Minter being the DC, he is my number one. Either that or he is wanting to announce all the new hired positions at once.

Baker is making a million plus at Missouri. He already has a top twenty defense. Getting to that level at LSU is going to take time. It seems more plausible that staying at Missouri is a faster ticket to a head coaching gig.

If he’s offered what? It’s all about the money at this point. And personally, I don’t like that aspect of this. I’d rather have someone that wants to be the man rather than “pay me I am the man”.
