Carr's contract makes this part difficult
Especially with a very old roster and cap mismanagement other than Carr

I’m gonna be so fricking disappointed if we restructure him and lock ourselves in for longer than next year.

What is the point of drafting a QB to sit for 3+ years while Carr plays out this contract?
It would be silly to draft a qb, he's better than Carr, but we play Carr for three years anyway.
That is crazy Slo.

wish he would restructure to the tone of walking away

I agree, which is why I don't see why people keep promoting that we draft a QB.
We're not going to let a QB with an annual cap impact of $47.6M/year ride the bench for 3 years, so a rookie can start

Yea. But its obvious he see's 24 and his contract as a 'last year in Nola' and maybe just maybe he doesn't want to fail and move again. Who knows.

No he understands that with Ram and Latt's issues, we're now forced to consider restructuring him. That makes that 3/100 contract into a legit 4/150 possibility. He's banking on a restructure to net another $50M in salary.

frick off. You don't watch the fricking games if you think he's a top 10 qb in any capacity.

What do you base him not being then? Passer rating is a damn good stat to judge qbs

Correct. Meaning a qb from a tier below Mahomes/Brees/Brady etc can win you a ship.
Matt Ryan almost won one also.
Point is Carr is on pace with these guys. If we can get the defense back to elite I see what the Saints brass sees.

This should be viewed through a favourable lens imo.

I definitely think carr can improve in the right situation. Unfortunately that sotuation definitely doesnt involve dennis allen.

Anyone who thought this wasn’t happening was blind or ignorant or probably both.

Except he’s going to restructure his contract, which is the whole point. Lord. fricking skull is thick as a caveman.

That's not a good thing.
3/100 quickly becomes 4/150, in that case. With an artificially low 2023 (and 2024 after a restructure), the remaining 3 years comes at premium QB cost ($47M/year or so cap impact).
3/100 for 23, 24, and 25 quickly becomes something like 3/142.5 for 24-26 if we restructure. This is going to be something insane like 2/130M for 25 and 26

Wrong. Saints do it regularly, and have made it work for years now.
We are 8-8 in a down year with injuries etc, and we’re sniffing the playoffs.
The Cam Jordan steep decline is the biggest worry, Carr restructure, Latt, Mt13 gone.
We need to hit in the draft badly.

I would imagine he sees being cut after 2024 like just about everyone here right? He may want to stay.
If he demands less guaranteed in a redone deal vs dropping him after 24 then thats good. We can throw you a party with the money we saved

If we leave his contract as is, we can get out of it after 2024. One more season.
Don't touch that bitch.
