I've got news for you my friend, chasing money is very rarely the best decision in any work place.
Yet, better earnings is the main reason people choose to go to college or when selecting a specific career path, and it is by FAR the #1 reason people change jobs.
Bottom line, it is proven that an NFL left tackle is paid substantially more than any other position on the O-Line. Like QB, there is one LT position, and there is no way he was beating out Campbell for that position. If he feels he can start immediately at left tackle for another P5 school, he would be putting potential NFL earnings at risk by not taking that opportunity.
For better or worse, we live in Capitalistic society. Why would it not apply in this situation?

Maybe I should care, but in the current environment these things are now expected each season.
I thought Heard would be the starting RT next season and the starting LT in 2025. Wasn’t good enough for him or somebody made him a better offer.

That kid had a bright future at LSU, but in no way was he going to beat out Will Campbell at Left tackle.
LSU will be just fine without his services.

How bout we cut the crap about better opportunities and better decision for himself nonsense. Y'all act like Heard was playing at Mcneese and wants to move up to a bigger school. He could have eventually been a 1st round pick and future LT at LSU just like he may or may not wherever he chooses to go. He had the opportunity to start here next year, plain and simple. Go earn it. The NFL will put him wherever they think he fits in best when the time comes. He wants a short term money grab LSU was not willing to fork over at this stage of his career and I don't blame them one bit. If the kid and his inner circle could see 6 inches past the end of their noses, they'd see BK and Brad Davis developing OL as good or better than any team in the country.

quote:I do remember and I bet he got his balls busted on a daily basis over it. Pride-then the fall.
Remember when he signed with LSU he told BK he was coming in to take the LT position from Campbell
Growing opportunity for the youngster hope he's better for it moving forward.

Campbell was a LT in HS
Heard became a LT after Campbell graduated

Some of you fanatics are always trying to turn it into a black vs white game. I’m glad Jayden chose not to listen to the “haters” in 2022. I bet Will and Lance are good buddies. The fans are spreading false and hateful stories. Stop spreading hatred between 18 and 21-year-old young men. The same thing happened years ago between Jordan and Jarrett. If a player wishes to leave, wish them well and move on.
Downvote at will. The truth hurts. Hit dogs holler.

He can be a 1st round pick and current LT at wherever he chooses to go. You have no idea whether he had an opportunity to start here next year, plain and simple. He certainly did not have it at his position of choice. The NFL will put him wherever they think he fits in best when the time comes. He wants to make the money he is worth now and he was not willing to play for less, and I don't blame him one bit. Other teams can see him developing into a LT as good or better than any LT in the country.

quote:same here. I figured he and Emery would move around a fair bit (both) to get them both time with Emory getting slightly more time inside because Heard is built to be a OT. Just needed to get his feet/balance improved, but was 80% there already.

He went and got paid. He was getting around $100k from our collective and is worth quite more on the open market.
It is what it is.. could we have matched? Sure... not getting into a bidding war when our line is as stacked as ever.
Save the $$$ for some of these 5*s coming in and for retention

Thanks Ms. Heard. I couldn't disagree with you more.

I don't blame Heard. He's a 19 year old man getting offered a six-figure "salary" by multiple potential employers. No one would bash a 19 year old plant worker for leaving his current employer to do the same job elsewhere for a higher salary. So why is a college football player a "dumb kid" for doing so?
BECAUSE MICROWAVE SOCIETY KIDS ARE SOOO SPOILED RAWR

Not sure how he doesn’t understand that if he works his arse off for 2 more years here he’ll be in line for a huge payday.
Not sure how you don't understand that he can go somewhere and get a payday now plus immediate playing time at LT where he can work his arse off for another huge payday after that.

I couldn't disagree with you more.
College football is the only endeavor where grown men expect other grown men to work for less than market value, to make decisions that are not in their best interest, and to make choices solely based on strangers' feelings.

It just sucks because if one guy goes down, heard will get pt.

The biggest lunch and learn here is never recruit a player who thinks of himself more than the team.
He would have been the guy in 25’ but got his feelings hurt and left.
Glad to see him go.

Hate to break it to you, every player thinks more of themselves than the team.
You think Jayden Daniels left ASU for LSU because he knew anything about the history of LSU? No, he came here because a power 5 school was promising him a starting QB job after his current power 5 school crumbled.

A false sense of self actualization and greed is not the “PATH” to success.
