I think Lance Heard feeling toward Will Campbell goes back to HS

Remember when he signed with LSU he told BK he was coming in to take the LT position from Campbell a freshman AA. And when he couldn't he felt some type of way which stemed from HS when he felt he was better and he wasn't. Heard is not LSU material and I wish the kid the best but Brad Davis is the most important aspect of all this. Davis will keep bringing in talent just like this year's crop of o-linemen and you never like losing 5*'s but losing Heard won't hurt us because of the job Davis does. Heard came in feeling some type personal feelings toward Campbell a future 1st round pick, he couldn't take the LT spot and decides to move on, hell he couldn't take Jones spot at RT. So Heard is just a big talented kid who couldn't deal with being second banana to Will again, just a thought.

You can make up whatever theories you want, because your feelings are hurt that Heard is in the portal. That statement right there is just flat out false though, and ruins any credibility about anything else you try to say.

The statement about Heard's feeling towards Campbell is also false.

I don't think there's anything personal between Campbell and Heard, but Lance wants to be the LT and he's not better than Campbell at this stage of their careers. Instead of being patient and eventually becoming that guy, he's part of our spoiled microwave society that wants what he wants right now.

I don’t think it’s that personal. He just wants to start. Someone will give him that. We wouldn’t so adios amigo.

If there were “feelings” he’d have just gone someplace else.
Wish him the best, just not against LSU

I've had the same thought. He's been behind will for years.

I think the OP, and many others, are completely overanalyzing this. Heard is an in-demand prospect at an in-demand position. Coaches at other schools probably saw he was unlikely to be guaranteed a starting tackle spot at LSU next season and (through back channels) reached out to see if he would be interested in "working" for them. This happens EVERY.SINGLE.DAY in business throughout the country.
Someone who really wants Heard's services probably floated out a number which he then took to LSU to match/exceed. For their part, LSU probably evaluated the status of the OL (which appears to be in very good shape) along with the fact they have other NIL obligations, and decided the cost to match/exceed wasn't the best move to make.
I don't blame Heard. He's a 19 year old man getting offered a six-figure "salary" by multiple potential employers. No one would bash a 19 year old plant worker for leaving his current employer to do the same job elsewhere for a higher salary. So why is a college football player a "dumb kid" for doing so?

In today's world when this doesn't work, you simply move on.

The line between self confidence and delusion can be quite fine. If he genuinely thought that he could beat out Campbell and take the LT spot, he is clearly living in a fantasy world. He could have boosted his draft value by showcasing his versatility at RT and patiently waiting for his opportunity. However, this is the prevailing trend in the new era of football. These kids are only "committed" until they get their feelings hurt.

Playing time and NIL money are the commodities in the college football marketplace. Why is a kid "spoiled" if he willing to accept an immediate increase in BOTH offered by someone else? Would you advise a friend to turn down a promotion and increased salary at a competitor employer? Would you consider him "spoiled" if he didn't? I think most of us would tell our friend congratulations. Not call him "spoiled"

Just so weird to get this bent out of shape over which side of the line you’re on.
Elite tackles get paid regardless; stop watching the blind side.

Thats not true.
My son was on staff during that time at Neville.
They were friends.
This is all about money. The family is terribly poor and he is being shopped.
Sad......that is what CFB is now.

Disagree.
There is nothing personal about this decision, it’s 100% business. Heard has it in his head you have to be a starting LT for 3 years in college to be a NFL LT and LTs make more money than RTs.
But the decision is all business. Someone, probably Ole Miss, wants to overpay for Heard to be a focal point of an otherwise poor OL, much like they did with Nolen being the centerpiece of an otherwise below average DL. His “advisors” making the business decision for him while Heard has this RT v LT narrative ingrained in his brain.

I've got news for you my friend, chasing money is very rarely the best decision in any work place. I know many people who did so and regretted it.

I feel the same way about this player that many of yall do. However I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets out of the portal and stays. Now, how will that make the team feel, that he bailed on them in the bowl game, threw a temper tantrum and came back.
