Car Guy Question: Wiper fluid smell leaching into cabin

My Buick Lucerne work car: When I drive it and use the windshield washer to clean the windshield, the driver's compartment fills with the smell of the wiper fluid. It won't go away for quite a while, and the smell is strong.
Where do I need to look to ferret out this issue? There is no quickly discernible problem. Thanks.

Put the windshield back on.

use plain water instead of fluid like the rest of us (duh)

Well, it is splashing on the air intake beneath the windshield? Maybe you're using a cheap strong smelling fluid?

Route a brand new washer fluid line to come under the dashboard next to steering wheel. Fill reservoir with bourbon.

Got the same smell in my tundra. If there aren’t any noticeable leaks then I’m sure it’s fine. Do you use the rain-x stuff. Love how it makes the water bead up but it had that smell.

See if you can switch off the fresh air and leave the system off or at least set it to recirculate.
I seem to recall that some GM products always let air in from the bottom of the windshield, though.

One of your hoses between your washer fluid pump and the spray nozzles is broken.
They are easy to trace , troubleshoot and repair. AutoZone has the hose. And any replacement fittings. Usually the only tools necessary is a pair of needle nose pliers and a sharp razor knife.

Agreed. It is also possible that the hose popped off. If the area around the plastic trim around the wipers has been messed with lately, that is a likely cause.

Stop using wiper fluid, problem solved.

Happens in brand new cars also. You can try diluted dish soap.

The windshield wiper fluid reservoir has a leak.
Down the firewall, underneath the carpet, into the cabin.

Are you sure you are smelling your washer fluid and not your blinker fluid?

I was driving north into pine bluff by the paper mill and used my blinker turning lanes and started noticing a bad sulfur/egg fart smell. I turned the blinker off and the odor finally cleared out about 20 miles down the road.
It hasn’t happened since but I’m debating on taking it to the shop and having it checked out.
I’ve never checked the blinker fluid……..

Make sure it's washer fluid and that something like methyl hydrate is not mixed in the solution, which will increase the smell on a warm windshield. Also, the Lucerne has a washer fluid heater that should be disconnected as per a Buick recall statement. Check that the fluid is draining from the cowl vent because the cabin air filter port is on the passenger side.
