Yeah Kyle is in a perfect spot, would he be great for LSU, absolutely, but would it be great for him, I don't know. Plus his kid is a beast and I need him in soccer again lol, kid scored like 3 goals against Minden in like 20 minutes, 6th grader so I've got him 2 more years. Amazing family

He gives me Ishmael Sophser vibes. The kid from amite that signed with Bama and now is juco . He’s worth a chance though because of his capabilities. He’s no 5 star though

Well then you’re stupid and never watched him play
Sopsher was fat and lazy

Dom is raw - he isn’t a 5 star but he’s a top 150 player at minimum

And everyone who follows recruiting knows who sopsher is - you don’t have to explain it to us

Yep, that is pretty much the consensus and what I said also. As several others have said, Reliford is the best DL in LA this class (rolling DE in with DT). McKinley's 5* rating should be Reliford's....McKinley a high 4*

An objective comparison of speed can be easily seen in their HUDL highlights. Reliford chases down a RB with no angle in a breakaway (mixing sports ). McKinley moves well on an INT for a TD but not the same speed. Admittedly, they are of different weights but still...

New noise out from the $ boards is that McKinley is shutting down his recruitment and committing to the Tigers ahead of/during his official visit.

So... Is he a consensus 5 star again to LSU fans? Or overrated?

Believe it when I see it, but LSU has had their fair share of top rated recruits never produce, so it's part of doing business if he never contributes to the level of his ranking.

Plenty of 3 and 4 stars that never do a thing.

Not sure about the committing on official but do believe he either stays with A&M or flips to Tigers since he only has LSU official on schedule before Feb signing day

All of the stellar talent evaluation and opinions on this board aside, it can’t be argued that it would be HUGE for this staff to close out the cycle with McKinley in purple and gold. Most would have said it was all but impossible just a couple of months ago.

Isn't he still committed to a&m?

Any reason why he didn't decommit when robinson moved to syracuse

I’m wondering if him warming up to LSU has anything to do with the rumors of Bo Davis coming here

You could've easily compared him more favorably to Maason Smith yet we are all clamoring for and celebrating his return. Would it please the board if McKinley developed into what Smith is currently? Would he be considered a disappointment/bust? Answer is yes for me.

He’s no 5 star though

While I do agree, what is a 5* really? Is it an arbitrary number as in 1-32 or is a true indicator of talent? In no world is every year the same with the exact same amount of 5*. So if it's purely arbitrary, doesn't it lessen the value of actually being one? It should be based on talent and projection not a set number. Not every first round draft pick is a 5* in hs, college or even the NFL. It's a fallacy.

For LSU to close on and flip Reliford and Dom from A&M would just be an unreal job by Kelly and his staff.

This must mean they know who the staff is and are sold on the future of the defense. There is no way he’s committed this early, if true, with what is in place. Great job by Kelly if true.

McKinley is kicking butt at the Under Armor All American practices. Hearing he could be making an announcement shortly. Maybe even tomorrow. Could be excellent for the Tigers. This is all about the young man’s potential as a player of the future. We need this guy !

He is rated high enough and given the team's tremendous need at DL, McKinley is a definite take.

I don't mind the projection part but it should be for college, NOT 4 years in the future in the NFL. I like the Fox Sports system...the 5* there is "Elite Prospect with starting potential as a TR FR. Considered a mismatch in talent, skill, or ability to opponents. Will be an immediate impact player in college."

I didn’t mean it in the sense of they’re the same skill set . Just I think both were the #1 Louisiana recruits in the year they are being recruited . Like a lot of hype but nothing jumped off the page about either of them .

I think you and the other cornball missed my point . Also they’re are legit 5 stars from high school to nfl . And you can see it
