A teenager from the New Orleans area was killed when he crashed his car in Pointe Coupee Parish after leading sheriff's deputies on a pursuit, the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office said.
On Wednesday morning, Iberville deputies saw a Chevy Suburban driving recklessly, Sheriff Brett Stassi said. They learned the SUV had been stolen in the New Orleans area and been involved in several hit-and-runs.
Deputies chased the car along La. 411 and successfully deployed spike strips, but the Suburban was able to "limp out of Iberville into Pointe Coupee," Stassi said. A few hundred yards into that parish, the SUV crashed into a tree.
Deputies were able to free a 13-year-old girl from the passenger's seat, but the 16-year-old driver could not get out before the car was engulfed in flames, Stassi said.
The only quote of the Iberville Police was "it limp out of Iberville into Pointe Coupee"
Pointe Coupee happened in your parish, you have to do the paper work.
