Listen. I understand that it’s not easy to come in mid game as an OL due to someone getting hurt but I personally thought there was a surprising sizeable drop off between emery jones and Lance heard.

I don’t want the kid to leave because playing tackle as a TF in the SEC ain’t easy and I expect great things from him but I do think it’s interesting that he was quoted after signing saying something along the lines of “I know will (Campbell) and I’m not scared of will” and now he may be leaving.

He’s had the highest pass blocking grade of any True freshman OL in the power 5 per PFF. He’s a stud

He was Freshman All-SEC. This is a big loss if he leaves.

As long as nothing is said that might hurt Moscona’s feelings, we are OK.

So he has the RT spot locked up for next year but that's not good enough for him? Is this him wanting to be strictly the LT?

Nobody really knows that this is grades related yet so speculating myself.

Just curious.

How many true freshmen tackles got significant playing time in the SEC?

I agree that I want to keep him. I also stand by my statement that he was a clear 3rd at tackle.

Not a knock on him as Campbell and Jones are the two best tackles we’ve had in a long long time AND they both have a years worth of reps and college strength and conditioning on him.

It would be a big loss but this is now the world we live. Always wanting a bigger bag, always another school willing to pay more.

Agree but in this day and age what can the coaching staff do?

Are you gonna move Campbell or Jones just to make this guy happy?

And if it’s because he only wants to play LT and not RT or even some guard, he’s not a team player and good riddance

It would suck but thankfully this is the one position LSU has actually recruited lineman tremendously

Found the quote.

quote:

Early in the recruitment process, Heard told coach Brian Kelly he would play left tackle. “Well, we've got a true freshman, Will Campbell, playing left tackle right now,” Kelly said. “He's pretty good.” “‘I've seen Will Campbell play,’” Kelly recalled Heard saying. “‘I played with Will Campbell. I'm playing left tackle.'”

Jones should be at RG and Heard at RT.mov

This is why Brad Davis and LSU signed 6 high caliber OL. There is no guarantee that anyone will stick around for 3-4 years or that they will pan out.

The only thing that would make me mad is if he transfers to a rival. Lol.

If he'd seriously leave because of this, then he's simply not aligned and would be considered a cancer to the locker room.

Fine. And that makes sense if Heard can play RT as well as Jones. But if Heard ONLY wants LT, then let him walk.
