Why would he pick a lateral move to a program hampered by academic standards in recruiting?

He must really hate the Louisiana summers.

His offensive approach isn’t particularly creative or difficult to decipher. He just had a really outstanding QB and WRs operating at a ridiculously high level this year. He knows those guys won’t be here next season and his offense (by default) is going to drop in production. Knowing that, he was smart to leverage this season, which is VERY likely the best season he will ever have, in to one last big payday. Either from LSU or (apparently) ND.

Losing him is not “nothing”. But it’s not devastating either. LSU can replace him.

Because he's pretty damn close to retirement. He doesn't give a shite where things stand in 5 years as he'll be gone.

It's not even a lateral move. It's a step down.

Notre Dame currently has a better recruiting class than LSU. The narrative that ND can't get high level recruits is overplayed.

It’s more about his wife & kids, IMO

I mean, we bash the shite out of BR so why complain when outsiders don’t like it

EASIER PATH to the playoffs, year after year. Gets more money for success or get HC gig because of the "playoff" success, and more MONEY!

he's 59, he still lives there and he's making the same if not more money to be home.

easy decision honestly.

His hometown is not far from South Bend, prolly has old parents and wants to be close to home. Really never know what is in peoples minds. Our fault though cause he agreed to an extension already but we can’t do anything till the board approves it and they don’t meet again till February, I mean we couldn’t have had an emergency meeting that too hard on these rich fricks or something?

This makes me think House is staying.. the only reason I can think Denbrock would leave is if he knew he was going to have another “could have won a championship” season at LSU but the defense was non existent.
