Brown University pushes ahead with criminal charges against 41 student protesters

Clark said students entered the building around 9 a.m. and staged a sit-in.
---------------------
By nightfall, shortly after the close of business, campus officers arrested all 41 protesters. Providence police charged them with trespassing.

It was the second time in recent weeks that protesters have been arrested while demanding that Brown reform its investments. In November, the school had 20 students arrested. The response has left activists feeling that their message had been ignored.

"How many students are they willing to arrest instead of even bringing something as simple as the question of divestment to the table?" asked coalition member Hannah Aboueid.

------------------------
Now, Aboueid said, students' relationship with the administration is "reaching a boiling point."

"They don’t seem to be taking our demands seriously," Aboueid said, "even as student support for divestment grows exponentially."

Protesting for divestment of their funds?? You going to be charged. Don’t be messin with their money.

Should have been protesting for obliteration or Israel or something. They would have received some freedom award and a free dinner.

Next, expel them. This is the only way to deal with the foolishness.

You can not try to appease them.

That's the world we live in now...this younger generation believes that whatever they think is the most important thing going, and that everyone should listen to them so they get their way. They've never been told no, they've never been disciplined. They all got trophies for showing up and were told they were special.

Hard times a comin.

I just don't understand the protesters. They are too impatient. They just convicted the college president of war crimes. I would think the university is scrambling to recover and locate a new one before investments can even be looked at. That takes time.

We should have never stopped corporal punishment.

I can understand why this lad is confused. Universities have been teaching their student-brats for decades now that they run the asylum, and I'm sure this young man has never worked a minute of his life to pay for anything, so he doesn't understand what it means to give up your best investments.

But he's about to find out...

I missed the part where Brown is legally obligated to do what their students want them to do.

Also, if you don’t like it, go to a different school.
