I won't be surprised if NY is more ridiculous than Cali.
NY becomes 2nd state to consider reparations for slavery; 'I challenge all NYers to be patriots,' Hochul says
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a law Tuesday that makes New York the second state to create a task force to study reparations for the descendants of enslaved African people.
Hochul signed the legislation at the New York Historical Society on the Upper West Side, saying it would help "right the wrongs of the past" and acknowledge "the painful legacy of slavery in New York."
"Today, I challenge all New Yorkers to be patriots and rebuke, not excuse, our role in benefitting from the institution of slavery," the governor said at the signing, which came six months after the state Legislature sent the bill to her for consideration, and three years after California formed a commission.

Take a look at how the budget works in NYC.
The descendants of slaves have already gotten their reparations and then some.

NYC was actually really close to joining the confederacy, believe it or not
Ironically, the major of NYC addressed the city council on Jan 6th talking about how civil war was inevitable

As I said before, fine by me. Just make sure that once they receive reparations, they must stay in the state that issues reparations.

Giving money to black Americans does make more sense than giving money to illegal aliens.
I'll give them that.
Both are incredibly stupid and are just vote grabbing handouts

So, never allowing slavery in your state, plus going to war to stop it, wasn't enough?

Mayor Adams whining for US taxpayers to foot the bill for their sanctuary cities and now the idiots in NY want reparations too.
Another ^^^^ example of why the divide is unbridgeable.

I live this because it makes politicians go on record whether or not they support this.

I hope they do it! Lol.. It would be funny to watch especially a year or two down the road after most have burned thru their money. They would be screaming with their hands out again.

I don't know about this, but do know there were deadly Draft Riots by the city's Irish residents when the focus of the war became about ending slavery as opposed to saving the Union.

Slavery was legal in NY until 1827.

Eh. You’re right I over stated. There were talks about it at the upper levels briefly. It wasn’t a serious thing, but still funny none the less.
It was due to the financials tied to the cotton trade.
There was, however, a town in New York that did actually leave the union.

So nothing for the over 300,000 white slaves that came from Great Britain?

Fingers crossed...
Florida will benefit greatly from the masses leaving NYC.
