I have been watching alot of the Tsunami videos.
The amount of destructive force and the distance the water traveled on land in some areas was astounding.
It overtopped protective seawalls, railroad and road embankments and flattened entire towns.
Seeing people overtaken was just sad. Some appeared to be older folks unable to move quickly enough after a late start.
The sound alone would be terrifying...

Ishinomaki, the city with most deaths
Ironically, my dad (his grandfather) was in charge of Sendai from Fall of '45 to late '46 with the American occupation forces.

I love historical videos, but was emotionally sad to watch. Maybe just the ptsd from flood of ‘16 and holiday stress or the background music. Thx for sharing

The street scenes at the 22:00 mark...
Yeah that got real serious real fast. I suspect that old man in the middle of that block didn't make it.

All those people inside their homes at 13:15 most likely died. The guy in the background “They won’t make it”. Crazy.

That shot that starts at 4:38. Imagine seeing that coming at you.
I bet that's why the footage stopped. The person holding the camera got the hell out of dodge and didn't wait around for it.
I would have done the same thing.

I was stationed in Japan for year and half. Went to Sendai once. While I was in Japan I experienced many tremors. Seemed like when the snow melted quick, tremor time. Then went to Bali Indonesia for vacation and damned if they didn't have a earthquake too. Scary shite.

The one who hopped up on a step a few feet, thinking if only he could keep his shoes dry? Yeah, no chance. Seeing what was coming just a block or two over, with all that debris and speed of the rising water.
Much like later on, I guess the editors cropped out the vids from the hillside which showed people trying to outrun the oncoming death across the open field. Mostly older ladies, it looked like. Hard to believe the video claims dead & missing were less than 19,000.
No wonder Japan gave us the Kaiju movies. That destruction looks unnatural.
28:00 to 30:25. We go from the tsunami trickling up a shallow tributary, with gawkers standing in the street to get a better look to the entire place being inundated with water and debris. Complete chaos in minutes. Camera person starts out at street level, but then wisely gets to high ground. Same sea-wall , same playground, but both get quickly flooded and obliterated.

If they can fake a moon landing they can easily fake a tsunami.

What the hell is that even supposed to mean?
Who is "they"?

This tsunami highlights the difference in people.
This hit Japan and they had it cleaned up on Thursday.
The 2010 Haiti earthquake still looks like it hit yesterday in much of Haiti.

This joke doesn't work for an earthquake and tsunami. It doesn't work at all.
