If you don’t want to support my kid’s run toward the majors then just don’t. No need to cry about it.

What’s worse is when they prostitute their stars out to stand in the street with buckets. Wash cars like the rest of us.

If a college has to beg donors to give money to NIL... You shouldn't play major sports

Lady we know in town does this with her six year old daughter’s competitive cheer. She posts a diagram of the cheer uniform and she asks for people to pick an item of the uniform to buy for them. Tacky stuff.

Agree 100%. I’ve coached “tournament” ball teams and my kids have played on other teams. My teams never did a fundraiser.

When the other teams my kids played on do these things, I just pay whatever they expected to make if my kid participated.

To me, it’s not like allstars when the kids have the towns name on the jersey. Pay for it yourself if you want your kid to play, imo.

As a travel ball dad, I agree. I prefer to just pay out of pocket and hate asking friends/family to donate to a decision my son and I made.

I wouldn't call this begging and I'll buy a raffle ticket on occasion to support this (particularly if I'm interested in the prize). However, I do see where some travel ball parents simply want you to donate money. THAT'S begging.

I told this story on here before, but I used to work with a guy who, when he wasn't working on something, would be on the phone talking travel baseball. It was an open floorplan with offices around the outside so you could hear everyone if they left their door open and did.

This dude used to complain because they would get a team together to go play out of state and evidently there were kids whose parents told them they were not paying that amount of money for them to go play in a tournament. They would have kids whose parents were willing to play but the kids they wanted were better so they would pay for these kids then complain about how much money they spend.

One day he decides to do a raffle to raise money because they decided to open up an account and raise money so they can have it to help pay for kids who couldn't afford to play. That's how he sold it, but everyone could hear him everyday and he sold 0 raffle tickets at work. Dude was pissed and was sort of standoffish for about a week,
