Ride of the Rohirrim is by far the greatest scene in all of LOTR. And there’s quite a few great scenes.

Theoden’s speech is incredible, and then the charge has incredible score aligned with the plot of the rising sun blinding the orcs

When the show the mountain stretches of the beacons lighting, I always think about the frickers that had to sit and wait to do it.

I'm always thinking about how did each location get them lit so fast.

Like a guy must have not ever looked away from the other tower and at the same time keeping a small flame going ready to get the big fire going immediately.

well they were in the snowy mountains, I am pretty sure they would have a fire going no matter what their job was up there

I saw Fellowship and Two Towers without having read the books. While waiting for ROTK to come out, I started with the hobbit and read all the way through ROTK. So, ROTK was the only one I got to see after having read the book, and I was blown away at how well it was done. I didn't agree with the change to the end but I understand why they had to wrap it up, or it would have probably required a separate movie.

I started watching Fellowship of the Ring this week. It will take a while, but I want to watch all 3 over Christmas. It’s been a few years. Probably my favorite movie series of all time. Perfect.

Just imagine how awesome it would be to hear that horn on the first light of the 5th day at dawn while you're looking to the east.

Rewatched Ride of the Rohirrim to clear the dust out of my eyes.

I still get goosebumps when Gandalf, the Rohirrim and the light of dawn meet the Uruk Hai at Helm's Deep with Theoden Rides Forth playing in the background

The inclusion of the hourns in the extended edition makes this scene even sweeter

He plays Duke of Norfolk in Wolf Hall. He's a minor character dick in that, but still great. Carries himself with nobility.

Absolutely. So glad that they put out the extended versions, just for this.

I’ve got another that I like, but yeah maybe not as good.

Excalibur, when Arthur finally drinks from the grail and speaks to his brother, culminating in, “Guards, Knights, Squires …. Prepare for battle!” Then the ride out, set to Carmina Burana, that heals the land. Would be perfect if the special effects were a little better in 1980.

Trivia...

Most of the Excalibur sets were recycled from Boorman's failed effort to get the rights for a live action Lord of the Rings

Ha. That’s great. I’m glad that he got to put them to good use.

Merlin’s nuggets of wisdom in that movie are timeless. Haha.
