Just curious, if house is let go, who is out there better than him right now? Who is the guy LSU "fans" are wanting to lead the defense?

Literally a used napkin is better than him at this point. I’ll take someone with some actual energy and puts an effort into recruiting

And someone who isn't caught laughing in the booth after our D allowed another 42 points

I think the question is more, if House isn’t let go, why? I mean, consider what Napier and Freeze inherited compared to BK and the subsequent results. If House stays, I think BK has a good reason. He’s not fielding a defense like this ever again.

The defense doesn’t get much better next year, I’m not sure what you think will change on the field and in recruiting. If he is not fired then something is very wrong at the top

I'm hearing Kevin Steele. Waiting until after his season ends to finalize/announce. Also keeping it quiet so T-rant doesn't go crazy and jeopardize the deal.

Come on.

Kelly could pull a random fan out of the stadium to coach the defense and it would only be slightly worse that what House produced this year.

It just wasn't congruent. If you're going to bend and not break, allowing the dink and dunk stuff, then you have to be great/elite at tackling. Yet, we didn't attack receivers or the line of scrimmage. We were giving up the big play anyways. I can't understand what the handcuff factor was that prevented being more aggressive. Talent is continuously inferred as the primary reason, but we aren't bottom 100 in defensive talent. It would appear obvious that knowledge and technique overcome experience. I've never played or coached at this level but tech and film study habits came from my position coach in high school. It sounded insane to me for me to think that House may not be the problem but it seems more plausible as time passes. He still needs to be held accountable but the man-to-man battle losses, I feel, are at the position level. I guess that includes linebackers, too, so in summary I'm just as confused as everyone else.

This is what blows my mind.

You were already giving up points on nearly every drive. You might as well go high-risk, high-reward.

I agree. We are returning mostly the same guys that were lost & underperformed all season. It would be encouraging if we saw development and improvement, however that just wasn't the case. This defense started and finished the season making the same mistakes. No edge containment, poor gap control, and horrible all-around technique from our secondary. Speights is the worst LB I watched play this year. Even when the coaches finally inserted backups that seemed to play well & looked more impressive, they still reverted back to the starters who constantly showed poor play. It left a lot of people wondering if this staff can properly evaluate talent OR if the talent is just that bad.
