The most of the top QBs in the portal don't play the style the coaches prefer. No one likes to hear it but no matter who they bring in he's going to get snaps in the rpo package whether nuss wins the job or not. Not many of the top guys offer the ability to do that. The ones that do have that ability like Will Howard and Riley Leonard will want to be guaranteed the job.

That’s almost every player nowadays. Doing what’s best for them and their families.

Semantics. Both quit on their team in a time of need due to completely selfish reasons. Like it or not, that's the facts. Huge reason I'm not on the Nuss Bus. If times don't go his way he'll just quit again. I'd take 50 Jontre Kirklins over the Nuss' of the world. Short of a crystal ball he gets no breaks from me. However, I do have a soft spot for redemption so I understand that sentiment as well. Comes down to it, I just want to win games no matter the character of those that help that cause.

The situations aren’t even remotely close to the same thing. A player who was never the starter on a team in a head coaching transition in one bowl game with a makeshift roster than will cost said player a full season of eligibility vs a guy who won the starting QB job for a team in the middle of a fricking season. There is absolutely no logical comparison to be made between these two situations unless you are propping up an agenda.

1. His dad made the right call for his son. Morris has more value in the portal with an extra year of eligibility.

2. Nuss did the same thing. And I’m glad he did.

He won some big games vs Clemson, and Miami.

Go look at his stats in those games please.

Ty Thompson just entered the portal and has way more upside.

It’s funny

Funny as Jayden Daniels was labeled a cancer, when leaving ASU

Remember his teammates tearing up his locker after leaving…..

Sometimes winning cures all

I’m not familiar with JD’s situation. I know MJ’s goes back to middle school so there’s a pattern with him. Maybe you’re right that winning cures all but he was on a damn good team in high school and still acted that way.

I would agree with you if LSU was looking to bring in a definite starter. I don’t think they are. They are looking for a guy who can COMPETE for a starting job, but moreso be a backup with game experience.

Best case scenario he pushes Nussmeier and both get better as a result of the competition. Or, he significantly improves with experience and competition, proves to be better than Nuss and LSU finds a starting QB for 2-4 years. Worse case, he is a reliable backup

You normally bring good info so I will give you the benefit of doubt! Don’t need any cancers but maybe he can play CB

People grow up and I’m basing a majority of it on his time in high school so it’s possible I’m wrong. At least I hope I am.

Jayden Daniels' last season at ASU he had 10tds and 10ints on 300 attempts. So I dont think the coaching staff is basing anything on stats alone.

like a million other kids. If you haven't paid attention, that's what many have done. When you see kids mysteriously play 4 games and never show up the rest of the season, that's what happened.

Sometimes freshman come in with that exact thought in mind. Other times older players that want to transfer that need that extra year, take a redshirt that they didn't prior.

People having such a big problem with this, never have any problem when coaches process kids. People always say, "This is why coaches are heading to the NFL", the only reason coaches in the NFL don't deal with all this is because they have a front office. Colleges are now stacking 10s more millions on new deals. Invest in front offices to deal with all this stuff and have it relayed to the coach.

You must not watch interviews. In his last PC he literally addressed taking a QB in the portal stating that you have to be careful to not push your current or future players away. Again, if the goal was to create a competition, MJ Morris wouldn’t be the dude they would go after.

No, he said he wants to be transparent with what he's doing, so he talks to current players on the team, commits, and recruits he's trying to get committed. This is about LSU, not one individual player, is how they went with it.

Remember, when they did what they did to bring Brennan back when he was leaving, and then not long after, went after Daniels? Daniels was another QB that was not promised a starting spot. He had to come here and compete.

Also, people on here had absolutely ZERO problem with Nuss being in some "imaginary, in their head" competition for the starting spot this year when Daniels was a returning starter with 3800 yards and 29 TDs. Daniels statistically has had two of the 3 best seasons by a QB in LSU history, btw. Why was it okay for Nuss to be in competition with a returning starting QB, but not a transfer being brought in to compete with Nuss? Many of them were sure that Nuss would get the start in 2023 over a returning starter, but are so scared of him losing a competition to an incoming transfer.

Same thing Nuss did, it’s how we got the legend of Jontre Kirklin
