Jose is highly motivated to win the In Season Tournament

The New Orleans Pelicans’ players are two wins away from winning $500,000 each and a championship in the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament. To be specific, Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado is two wins away from winning a championship and his three daughters are two wins away from winning $500,000 for their future from their “girl dad.”
“I will not touch the money,” Alvarado told Andscape. “My financial team will act like I never made it. It’s not for me. It’s not in my hands. I’m living my life. They got to live their lives and I don’t want them to struggle at all. This is the first time I’m telling everybody. I just know what I want to do.
...Each player gets $500,000 for winning the title, $200,000 for second place and $100,000 for reaching the semifinals. A $500,000 prize won’t alter the world for Pelicans stars Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson, who will earn more than $30 million each this season. But for Alvarado, it’s a significant financial boost because he makes $1.8 million this season and had earned $3 million total in his NBA career before this season.
...“We got $100K. Let’s get the $500K,” Alvarado said. “It’s fun how we play. We came in here and we had fun. That is the most important thing. We just have to keep winning and if we do my girls will be a half a mil up.”
There's a lot more at the LINK Good read if you like Jose.

I love Jose.
500k is a big chunk of change for a large portion of our roster.

How can you not love Jose? He’s just like Herb. They are both absolute dogs on the court and good men off the court with a head on their shoulders. We have a lot of just good people as well as players which makes this team so special and sets the bar for how to carry yourself on and off the hardwood for Zion. Throw that $500K in the bank and start letting it gain interest so when his girls are ready for college or to start their lives they have a nice chunk of change for their education or first house, etc. Nice Jose!

Herb was in an Instagram the Pels posted a few days ago where he said the most overrated thing he could think of was expensive jewelry, which sums up Herb about as perfectly as any sentence can. All grit and no glam.
Really hope Jose gets his $500k, guy deserves it.

Herb until he just signed his new deal was still driving his 20 year old car from college. He saves his money. Just a country kid who if he isn’t working on his game you won’t catch him out in the clubs or in the news. He prefers to go fishing instead.

All these players partnering with stylists to model designer brands, and Herb walks into the arena every game wearing Pels hoodies that the team gives him for free.

great story
i do find it hilarious though that it seems necessary to say BI/Zion/CJ wouldnt appreciate 500K...bullshite
half a million dollars is a lot of money i dont care how much you have or will have. just because you have 30MM doesnt mean 30.5 aint better

He also prefers to mostly wear team issued gear on the road instead of spending $1000s on outfits.

Dumbasses who clearly have no clue about Josh Hart's personality. Dude is always making jokes/being sarcastic and posts about his own kids all the time on Instagram. Twitter is the largest collection of idiots on the planet.

Hell, put it in Bitcoin and set them up for life, and his grandkids, and great grandkids, etc.
I am behind Jose and all the Pels. They will have earned it.

Twitter is great if you do it right. I've never made one tweet or used it as social media. It's like a personalized AP news wire for me. I have a few topics I follow like the Pels, and it can't be beat for keeping you informed.
