Going to be quite the drop off going from Penix to Rogers

DeBoer is that guy. His offense was good at Fresno State without Penix. Rogers and Washington's offense will be good next season.

Idk if I have seen this many 5 [stars] leave a program before,” Murray wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “What is the world is happening in Athens? These top recruits not liking all the competition?”
This is kinda nonsensical looking into it. For example, while 247 and On3 have Georgia with the same same number of 5 stars (21) over the last 5 years, they aren’t the same 21 players. I really like on3 (in addition to 247), but they didn’t even exist until a couple years ago. And like 247, they have their own rating and a composite rating of the 4 recruiting sites (247, on3, rivals, ESPN). So altogether, between 6 different ratings compared to 4 previously, there are going to be more recruits rated as 5 stars by at least 1 of them, and that’s going to be even more for teams that recruit like Georgia, Bama, OSU, where their getting a ton of players who are going to be on that borderline.

So Vandagriff was only rated a 5 star by 1/4 of the individual sites (Rivals who had him S 7th overall, he was 33rd, 37th, and 51st on other 3), although on3 and 247 composites bump him up to a 5 star. And since 247 appears to default to their individual rating, and on3 shows their individual rating and composite, then depending on which site or which rating one picks, he could either be considered a 4 star or a 5 star. Just kinda shows how silly basing it solely on stars is.

And given that Georgia signs about >1/8 5-stars has signed with Georgia ( and >1/3 goes to either UGA, Bama, or OSU), few teams would ever be in the position to lose even 1, let alone lose 2 and still have double digit 5 stars left on roster and 4-5 more coming in.

Finally though, the transfer portal has changed things immensely with so many more players transferring than before, and especially at QB. We just saw that the top 3 in the Heisman were transfer QBs, with 2 straight winners. So given that Vandagriff looks like he was going to be a backup again next season, it’s not surprising at all he would transfer, especially when it looked like the top rated QB was coming in the next class (maybe not now).

In summary, this is not alarming at all given the circumstances, and Aaron Murray sounds like an idiot here.

Unless he’s planning to run the OG Mike Leach air raid it’s going to be a step back

I don’t think the doomsday thing makes sense for Georgia in this case, but no one says this whenever it comes to the CFB/talent discussion with them or other top teams. Everyone gets rounded up to a 5 star if they have it rated that way in some site to further prove the “best team/most talented team” arguments. But if they lose a guy “eh he was actually a low 4 star, probably should’ve been a 3 star. No loss at all”

Just find that whole racket a bit funny

A starting tackle for the Tide next season, almost surely.

I was so confused when he entered. The right tackle spot is his for the taking. Idk what he was thinking.
