I imagine it would take a few years and classes to teach his system.

He does well at Iowa b/c he has a system that players learn for years before they step up. It's unlikely he could install it in an offseason or 2. You'll see the same confusion and issues we just saw with House until you have the successive time and experience accumulate.

Kirk Ferentz is the coach at Iowa, and he was considered on a par with Saban as a "football genius". He plays system football, where the offense and defense are what he wants them to be (unlike Saban, who started that way but went to an offensive format almost a decade ago).

Ferentz probably has a pretty big hand in the defense.
