In the market for a tonneau cover. After reaching out to some fellow friends, it was a mixed bag but the verdict seems to be the following:

1. Soft Top; roll up style
2. Hard Top; quad fold
3. No cover at all
4. Soft Top; trifold

Curious to see what others have. A few people I've talked to say that if you're not getting a hard top then it's pointless to get one. Which to an extent I do agree, the soft tops are easily broken into and would seem to wear much faster (leak etc). For the price point; I can buy 4 soft tops over the life of the truck before I sniff the price of the hard tops though.

Right now, I'm looking at the Gator ETX Soft top roll up or the Tyger T1 Soft Roll up. Both have good reviews and claim to be water "proof".

Any other brand specific you use?

I have a Truxedo soft roll up. It's 2 years old and still looks new. I get the argument about stuff being stolen but it's only there to stop an honest thief. If somebody really wants in they'll get in to the hard covers as well.

It claims to be waterproof but there is still a lil bit that gets in at the tailgate. I like that it's completely out of the way when rolled up.

I have Tyger running boards and they've been solid.

I've had a Gator Cover retractable hard cover for 2 years and happy with it. Not 100% waterproof, but good enough and I can lock stuff in it out of sight. Someone can get in it if they really want, but not sure they would unless they are sure it's worth the effort.

I recently bought a Tyger tri fold off Amazon. I like it. It's obviously nothing fancy, but it does what it's supposed to and easy to install and take off. It isn't 100% waterproof, but I've failed to see any major leaks. I don't know how long it will last, but it seems to be well made.

I looked into a nice diamondback but at $2k and I couldn’t justify it. I figured that my rifles and other crap are really only in my vehicle when I’m driving and do not live in there. I figured if I’m on the road and stop, it’s only for 20-30 minutes for eating, even then I’m watching the truck for most of that.

I grabbed a gator tri-fold soft cover and while not 100% waterproof, it’s damn close. I keep my suitcase, saws and rifles in there with no real concern. It’s only by the tailgate and only in an absolute down pour. I paid $250 for the cover I think. It’s easy to take off, I really overthought the whole thing. I’ll grab another gator when I need to.

I've got the Gator SFX Tri Fold on my '23 f150 and it's been great. I drove through a torrential downpour coming back from the beach and everything inside stayed dry.

For me, the easy on and off was a huge bonus. It can be installed/Uninstalled in a matter of a few minutes.

I never wanted one, but bought a used truck with one on it. It’s a soft top and I love it. My tailgate locks, so one needs to cut the top open to break into it.

How big a baw are you?

I hate the ones I have now, but they dont move with me holding my son/groceries, and grabbing crap.

Been looking at the Tygers...

I just purchased my 3rd Bakflip this week for a new truck.

This go-round I seriously considered the roll up style, but what I like about the tri-fold is that I can open up one panel or 2 if something is sticking out above the side rails. The roll-up style is either all the way open or closed.

No matter what you choose, you will wonder how you ever survived without a bed cover. They are a total game changer. You basically turn your truck into a Tahoe with more storage, but yet it is still a pickup.

Well turns out my wife went ahead and ordered the Tyger T1 Soft top roll up before checking back with me.

I will report back once installed. I was hoping to avoid the "amazon choice" brand and go with a suggested brand from here.

Wish me luck. I would like a foldable but losing that last 3rd space of my tailgate made me lean to roll up or quad fold. The quad fold soft tops are just as expensive as the hard tops.

Had the Tyger tri-fold soft top on my F150, and just put one on my Frontier.0 complaints. And easy on/off.

I agree. I keep all kinds of shite back there now that I never did before getting my cover.

Just bought my second and it would take a big step up in performance (which I’m not sure is possible) to make me look elsewhere. This new one is also way lighter than the older vertical had.

I had a couple retrax, retractable ones that I liked. Went to a full camper now and will never look back.

I've had a Retrax Powertrax since 2014. It is expensive but I have no regrets.

I bought a bought an undercover ultra flex in 2017 for my tundra and it’s been rock solid. The rubber is starting to show fading at 6 years old but still seems good.

I have had the folding hard top before. As for my truck now I want to get a black metal cover of some kind, preferably electronically powered to roll up.
