Its not rocket science. Its all about the timing. - Get injured in the bowl game - Ruin draft process - Lose at best 1-2 rounds of draft position and millions of dollars

JD is a character guy and he wants to get Malik the record. He’s playing.
He’ll still be a character guy when he decides not to play. Nuss will get Malik the record.

The bowl game will not change their draft stock. The senior bowl is more likely to do that.

If it’s just about the money then can’t he just take out a multimillion dollar injury insurance policy? Not sure if that is possible or even cost effective but it would solve the worry over losing millions.

It may cover losing millions with his rookie contract but not a hundred million over 10 yrs!

JD will play in the bowl game. Because of Exactly what you said.

If he does the NFL will mark hi IQ level pretty low as in stupid!

Because that what you would do, that is why you can’t see it. He may opt out, but it would surprise me a little if he did. JD5 is just wired different and that is what makes him so good beyond the physical gifts.
JD seems like the ultimate team first guy.

say they both start, Nabers gets the record and then BK turns the page/pulls them and let’s Nuss take over.
So you think JD is going to ignore a bunch of people telling him not to play, suck it up and play for the team and then Kelly is going to pull him and not let him finish what he starts??

Are you aware Bryce Young played in a non-playoff bowl game and still went number one overall? I’m guessing you’re not.

BK split drives between him and Nuss last year with only the possibility that JD might not come back. So yes it is very likely that BK limits their playtime even if they play.

Bryce Young had a NIL deal that paid him 1 million dollars to play in bowl game! Dr. Pepper contract!

JD could have chosen to sit out after that brutal hit and concussion in Bama. At that time, his odds for the Heisman were very low and the SEC championship and playoffs possibilities were gone. He didn’t even sit out the next week. Maybe he gets talked into sitting out but nothing about him is anything but a competitor, warrior, and throwback team player.

Aaron Rodgers also stated that him playing this season would depend on their playoff position. So if Saleh and the fellas continue to implode on offense, I doubt he steps foot on the field without a real chance at playoff contention.

This isn't a negative judgement on him, but it sounds like he and Malik are interesting in setting personal records. They also both seem like higher integrity individuals that may have wanted to finish the season.
I don't really feel strongly either way about JD5 playing. But people talking in absolutes stating "he's definitely going to play because he is a high character individual" are talking out their asses.

Hoping it is Notre Dame. Is it better to get bowl tickets aftermarket? I looked at prices here and they are pretty outrageous.

Jamar Chase sat a whole season because he was a first round pick
Completely different scenario. Monumentally different. Chase sat out because there was very little reason to risk playing in a season that could have been cancelled at a moment's notice. If it had been a normal year, he would have played.

D5 also saw in the Bama game how quick it could all end.
And chose to play another 3 games. Including a throwaway game against GSU.

JaMarcus Russell essentially played his way to the first overall draft pick in a bowl game. No one was really talking about him going that high until the shellacking of ND in the Sugar Bowl in '06.

I hope LSU plays ND and puts a can of Whoop-arse on them.
