SEC down in 2023?

Many national pundits are saying that the SEC is down in 2023, but a closer look at the latest CFP poll says otherwise.
Top rated undefeated team? (1) UGA
Top rated 1 loss team? (6) Oregon*
Top rated 2 loss team? (9) Missouri
Top rated 3 loss team? (14) LSU
Top rated 4 loss team? (21) Tennessee
*(8) Bama is as the 3rd highest 1 loss team, behind Oregon & Texas.
Also, (12) Ole Miss is the 3rd highest 2 loss team behind Mizzou & Penn St, giving the SEC 6 teams in the current top 21.
Although the PAC 12 is getting so much love from the national media, I think that the Top SEC teams would likely skullfrick Washington, Oregon, Arizona & Oregon St in the playoffs and bowl games, if matched up.

And I would argue that even though Texas did beat Alabama earlier, they would not do so now. They should be the best 1 loss imo.

Bama losing to Texas was kind of bs. They would whip Texas arse if they met in the playoffs
A 1 loss Bama who beats Georgia in the SEC championship has a better resume than a 1 loss Texas who wins the big 12

There’s about to be 2 SEC teams in the playoffs, once again.

I think
Doesn't matter what fans "think."
Alabama played Texas...in Tuscaloosa. Texas won by double digits. The games played head-to-head should matter.
If what fans thought about the infamous eye test was reliable, Vegas would be broke. They're not.
Doesn't matter what people think. What happened when Texas and Alabama played? Both teams knew, months in advance, when and where the game would be played. You're prepared or not. You win or lose. Bama lost. Unless Texas loses another game, they can't cry when they had the chance....at home....to beat Texas.

There may not be 1

If Bama beats Georgia they will be the highest ranked 1 loss team and likely have Georgia as the 2nd highest one loss team.

Beating Alabama at home by 2 scores is kind of BS?
Why even play the game if that’s the case?

The results on the field early in the year just weren't good for the SEC.
FSU>LSU
Texas>Bama
UNC>USCe
Miami>A&M
Utah>Florida
Wake>Vandy
I believe all of those games were double digit losses. Arkansas also had a close loss to BYU
Ole Miss Missouri and Miss State are carrying the torch with wins over Ga Tech and Tulane, Kansas State, and Arizona. That's pretty sad. Now there is a chance to make up some ground next week with games vs Clemson, Louisville, and FSU

3 top 10 teams is about average plus 2 more close OM & LSU.
We would be in Mizzou's spot had we stopped OM for one 3 and out. Currently we could probably beat Louisville, Oklahoma and OM if we played them end of Oct, instead of Sept.

Both non-starters IMO.

Agreed. They want to get new fans on the west coast by not giving the SEC the credit it deserves. See the Heisman race as an example.

They want to pump up the teams moving to the Big 10 to try and push a two Super Power Conferences narrative. Washington, Oregon, and to a point UCLA are helping that narrative. USC not so much.

It is down this year.
It is still the best conference in a down year.

The SEC isn’t overrated but early on it wasn’t the teams they expected and Bama had a slow start.
If Tennessee had Missouri’s record no one would be saying this.

Alabama struggled to beat Central Florida. They suck compared to prior years teams. The top end isn’t as dominant as it has in the past but the league overall will put the most players into the NFL again. So the conference talent is not down individually. Just the elite skill position talent isn’t there outside of Baton Rouge

3 ranked from the East
3 ranked from the West
As always.

Milroe was suspended and there have been plenty of Bama teams that’s leaned heavily on the defense.
