If the Monique Boulet that's running for mayor was s stripper, I'd give her money to keep her clothes on.

Guillory is not popular. Many of my friends and family live in Lafayette. I cannot say I have ever heard a single positive thing about him, either in my personal life or when conducting any kind of business in Lafayette.

The only way he carries it is if the Blanco thing is enough of a deterrent to conservatives; and I am not sure it is.

The Blancos raised their family in Lafayette and as conservative as Lafayette is, I don't know that the distrust of Kathleen/Coach will be enough to carry Guillory over the line. They're Lafayette fixtures and part of the community there.

At 30,000 ft I see Boulet winning. I'm with an earlier poster who questioned whether she had ever accomplished anything of note. Her other 2 sisters had more of a carreer. I can't say I had any idea Monique even existed before this race. Regardless . . . Guillory is not well-liked and he kind of snuck in there the last time because his opponent was an "independent" from New Jersey If Lafayette is going to vote for a democrat, she'll be registered as an R and actually from Lafayette.

"I gotta bad feeling Monique is going to win. Sure hope I'm wrong. Voter turnout is always an unknown the 2nd time around."

Depends how many of Jan Swift's original supporters/voters follow her endorsement of Blanco-Boulet
--

Most of Swift's votes came from the southern parts of the parish where Josh ran strong.

You can roll over the following map to see how the precints voted:

The people that I know that are anti guillory feel that way because of Covid and the way he handled it.

And the fire chief not enforcing mask mandate via complaints etc.

My entire circle of family and friends voted for Swift as a protest vote against Josh. That being said, he did covid fine and didn't get in bed with the ridiculous mask mandates. We will NEVER vote for a democrat (Blanco). The black vote won't turn out either, Guillory should win with a little room to spare.

The business folks are behind Josh.

Saw that Matt Stuller, Robert Giles, and Robert Daigle are endorsing him, to name a few.

That’s good, because a couple for sure, and maybe all of them, were Mary Landrieu supports against John Kennedy.

I don’t care how many upvotes you got, I’m going to call out this bullshite.

Did Kathleen Blanco flounder during the most important time during her Governorship (Katrina), yes. However, I’d guarantee you no previous Louisiana Governor had a road map to deal with the shitshow that was New Orleans during a time of a major hurricane where levees busted. She was out of her league trying to call out GW Bush as the one to blame, though.

Hell, I think her greatest “sin” was proposing that I-10 become a toll road. That was dumb and David Vitter and others rightly called her out for that.

But if we’re being honest, she supported the first step in un-doing the Stelly Income Tax increases, and she bucked Bob Odom and John Alario on BS pork stuff more than Bobby Jindal did.

Now that said, I think Boulet is probably more like her dad than her mom, so for that reason, amongst others, I hope Josh Guillory wins.

That after about a month he allowed businesses to operate how they best saw fit themselves. Businesses in Lafayette were allowed to determine whether or not they were going to require their customers to wear masks, rather than going along with John Bel Edwards forcing every businesses to require them.

It made the COVIDinans mad.

Made the mistake of voting for Josh Putin the first time. Not happening again. I'm willing to give Monique a chance.
