It is perfectly reasonable for SEC fans to be suspicious of the mysterious review guy in Birmingham, who overrules the field judges, making sure that calls go in favor of Alabama
this mysterious guy sure didn't earn his money in 2022, when Bama was the most penalized team in the SEC, and almost the very worst in the nation.

No one disagrees that it was roughing the passer. No one disagrees that it was not a dirty hit by a dirty player.

First, this was not a Rule 9-3 targeting because the crown of the helmet was not used.
Waco - you're correct, and I agree.

It was a dirty hit - the driving to the ground.

But it wasn't a launch - it just wasn't. And he definitely didn't lead with the crown - his facemask is what first contacted Daniels.

So yes, dirty hit with the drive to the ground, but it wasn't targeting.

The homers on this board will scream, but you're correct.

(and if the jerseys were switched, this board would be on fire saying it WASN'T targeting, for the reasons you gave.)

one of the 4 replay officials are from Alabama

IDGAF where they’re from. The bias exists. The gap in inconsistency exists. Been watching SEC football for 44 years.

Move it to India. That’s where all the tech support is anyway.

SEC Hq was in Jackson before moving to Birmingham. That being said, what about Madison, MS?

The SEC office will never move and the people that run those office aren’t Alabama fans because of being in BAMA. Most of them likely have other allegiances to other schools.

Can you evaluate the call on Sam last week in the same way please?

Are the onfield and review officials being consistent game-by-game and week-to-week?

If this unaccountable figure was based in Jackson, then we would not have to worry that his bias toward the home team was affecting the outcome of the conference in general.

Yea.

No way can an Alabama fan/review guy move to another city/state.

I dont know how you can view that film and say that there was not forcible contact to the head or neck area. Daniels nearly had his jaw broken. Just to give you the benefit of the doubt I went back and looked at the video again on frame by frame advance and DT's initial contact was his helmet forehead to JD's chin. JD's head shot backwards before any body contact between him and DT.

And then there is this that you left out...

quote:

Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player

ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. ...

Not being a dick, genuinely curious, does the rule say anything about the head snapping back and/or for how long?

Also, you can have your opinion, that’s respected, but my opinion is it was forcible contact to the head/neck area. Turner’s crown, at the very least, 100% made forcible contact to Daniels’ chin strap, which is located on his head, and his neck is below that. Turner came off the ground and struck Daniels in the area that is clearly in the rule.

Not sure how it can be interpreted any other way, but everyone is allowed their opinion.
Unfortunately your buddy’s opinion, right or wrong, changes games outcomes.
