Look at the countries involved. It tells you why there is a shortage. Same as lemons and avacodo prices. It's manipulation by cartels and governments to make more money.

Do you by chance listen to Shawn Ryan's podcasts? He recently had a Mexican reporter on that went into detail how the cartels impact agriculture.

I had no idea it was that involved and to that level. They'll literally let tons and tons of avocados rot in warehouses just to keep the prices artificially inflated.

We plant Carolina Sweets from mid-Cocktober to Christmas here .... best sweet onion in the country. What started as forty acres total for the entire state in 2009 (seed crop) has since turned into thousands of acres being grown in eight different counties.

One day we will overtake Vidalia in Georgia just as we did peaches .... few realize more peaches are grown in SC than in GA but it's past time that we start educating some of you Choupique eaters as-to the facts about sweet onions and peaches and where the finest reside.
