I wasted my 40's on booze and loose women. I can barely remember them, to be honest.

I was until the bitch said "I'm bored, I want a divorce" when I was 43. Spending the rest of my 40's recovering.
So close. so close....

Yeah that's a killer. I've been married 30+ years, we are ride or die. It's not close to percent, but it is what it is.

For me 50s were best, not much different from 40s, which was a lot like 30s. To bad 60 was the knee of my logarithmic decay.

40s are amazing if ... IF ... you put in the work and took care of yourself in your 20s and 30s.
It's tough to get into shape at this age, but it's easy to stay in shape or get in even better shape.
I was an animal in my teans, 20s, and 30s, but I'm probably in the best shape of my life in my 40s. Run circles around all the young knuckleheads.
If you take care of yourself, men get better with age. Women, not so much.
If you can offer stability - not just money (although it helps); talking about emotionally, mentally, personality, maturity, etc. - AND you aren't an old bag of fat, women in their prime will throw themselves at you.
The competition is younger guys who are video game playing morons who can't find the clitoris with a map.

I'm 82, and looking back, I tend to agree with you.

I kind of let myself go a little in my 30s. When I turned 40 I got in shape and stayed in shape for the last 17 years. Getting in shape at 40 was easy (for me anyway).

Don’t disagree but life is weird because I was a little late to the party…
20’s were all a raging party and meet the woman of my dreams (which I did)
30’s were busting arse, having kids, climbing the corp ladder and getting established
40’s we’re raising the kids, building income. Trying to be a good dad and husband. Had both in-laws pass and dealing with that.
Now I’m early 50’s and I’m lost. I’ve spent the last 20 years trying to get to somewhere that I’ve arrived at. But I don’t do anything for me…and can’t do it because I’m in the mindset that my job is to provide and set the stage for the kids. Still have two kids that have to get through college.
Lesson…don’t wait to have kids if that’s where you’re going. I believe every married couple should do it because it’s part of being a human and adult….but do it early so you don’t have everything hitting you at once when you get older.
TLDR…40’s we’re awesome. I just need help with the 50’s.

I'm 38, and the last 6-12 months have gotten "better" for me overall even though nothing was really wrong before. Married 11 years and most of them have been happily lol, 8yr old child, we have been in what should be our "forever home" for about 5 years now. There are lots of reasons to bitch about the world, but looking at my previous statement it makes me feel pretty stupid/guilty/selfish to complain.
My job is stable, wife's not as much so that is a bit of a road bump at times, but hopefully by the time I hit 40 she will be more stable and I can work less OT and focus even more on getting healthier, golf, and continuing to watch our daughter grow. I'm healthier at 38 than I was at 30, so hopefully I continue that trend.
18-25 moved from small town to BR, made good money for that age, had a good time and made memories and life long friends but should have spent/saved more wisely. So many nights spent partying for no reason, should have cut that in half and saved more to spend on more travel.
26-30 got engaged & married and moved into a new house, wife's income has never been great so I had to work a ton, sucks but still fortunate to be able to make OT
30-35 had a young kid, crazy busy at my work, didn't do a whole lot for myself or wife & I as most attention was to young kid and then buying our most recent home
36-38 got my career job, daughter growing, wife changed careers for better opportunities down the road that hopefully will start to really pay off soon

Wrong. I had my first kid at 42. Still good though.

For me each decade is better than the previous one. I turned 70 this year and life is getting better. I’m not a TD baller but do ok. We travel about every other month knocking off bucket list places and there is a corvette in the garage.

My parents told me this when I was younger.
I'm solidly there now. They were correct.

I guess it depends on when you have kids.

47 now...in the last couple years I've changed mentally. Changes I didn't deliberately make so I suppose they're just part of the aging process.
1. I don't sweat the small stuff as much. I've learned what matters and what doesn't matter. My wife or one of the kids comes to me with some stupid drama or bitching about something unimportant? I tell them I just don't want to hear about it and proudly tell them they shouldn't give a shite about it, either. I used to think it was my job to be a sounding board for that kind of stuff...a means of people having someone they could vent to. frick that...I'm not going to allow YOUR pettiness to ruin my mood.
2. Other than at work, where politics in management come into play and the people I lead need me to be a strong example, I really don't care what anyone thinks about me. I know I'm a good person, have lived a good, ethically sound life. You don't like me for some reason? Go frick yourself...I really don't care.

jk. 40s are in the rear view mirror for me, but I agree with you and the OP. Fewer money woes, career on track, and by then hopefully you know who you are and where you're going. Good years.
50s are can be great, too, if your health holds up Rage against the dying of the light, and don't let a few creases in your face or gray hairs get you down.
