The Patriots obviously no longer are competing for a playoff spot, but the battle with the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt apparently still means a great deal to New England ownership. And according to The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin, a loss overseas might be the final straw for Robert Kraft and company.

“Based on my conversations, I don’t think it’s 100% that Belichick finishes out this season,” Volin wrote in a column published Friday. “These next two games before the bye are huge, particularly the Germany game, which is practically the team’s Super Bowl for the Krafts. If Belichick loses at home to the Commanders and then to the Colts, and comes home from Germany with a 2-8 record, I think there’s a chance the Krafts could make the move in the bye week and install Jerod Mayo as the interim coach for the final seven games.”

As bad as they've been, I can't see them firing a HOF coach mid-season. He at least deserves to finish out the year.

I think that would be a shitty thing to do. The guy has earned the right to finish the year and go out with at least some dignity.

Bill coached them to 6 super bowls and they are going to drop him after management decided to let Tom Brady go to Tampa

What a slap in the face. I hope they continue to just lose every year.

BB era is over, but you let the man finish out his time there---not midseason. The fair assumption is what he's lost on his team this year is absurd

IR:
#1 WR - Kendrick Bourne
#1 pass rusher - Matt Judon
All pro punt returner, starting CB - Marcus Jones
Back-up DT - Daniel Ekuale
Back-up LB - Raekwon McMillan
Back-up T - Riley Reiff
Back-up T - Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

They're in rebuild mode, but if its BB's refusal to tank --- than yeah get rid of him. But your fanbase is spoiled if they want his head mid-season.

Belichick quietly signed a lucrative, multiyear contract extension with the Patriots during the offseason, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday on NFL GameDay Morning.

"His contract [is] one of the most closely held secrets in New England. That said, I think it's fair to say there was some, at least, uncertainty or intrigue surrounding him," Rapoport explained. "Now, contractually, he is locked up long-term."

Feels like idiotic clickbait. Zero chance this happens after all the fame and glory the man helped bring this franchise.

To be fair Bill wanted Jimmy 10 years ago. Kraft wouldn't do it

Albert Breer has more details and says it's like Brady's last deal. 24 will be the contract year and Kraft can cut him loose after this year.
quote:

"So if you look at it as, this is two-year new deal and not an extension, and he's signed through '23 and '24, then what we're talking about is the Patriots having a decision to make on their coach after this year. It is normal in the NFL to eat a year or two of a coach's contract to get rid of him if the owner desires that.

you dont fire someone the stature of Bill Belichick

if he wants out, you let him step down. No way the Krafts want to be known as the people that fired the GOAT HC

Lombardi was not fired
Noll was not fired
Walsh was not fired
Parcells was not fired
Shula was not fired

the best example of an All Time HC being fired is Tom Landry

Noone knows what goes on behind closed doors.BB might be
acting disrespectfully to managemt. They might be trying to
give advice and he just told them to F-off.thats something
he would do.
