Updated 2025 Ram Pickup debuts with 540 horsepower turbocharged I-6 engine

The Hemi V8 is now a thing of the past for half ton trucks. Supposedly the turbo I-6 will also find its way into the 3/4 ton trucks.

I like the new grille, but don't like the no bumper look. It's not a crossover.
I don't see a reason to pull the V8 from the 3/4 tons, the EPA doesn't rate them for fuel mileage.

Can't wait for one of them to be three inches from my bumper while I'm going 90 in a 75.

That's the ugliest truck I've seen in 2023.

I hate how low the front of these trucks sit. I wish modern trucks just came stock with a leveling kit.

Interesting
An in-line 6 brings more horsepower than the Raptor.

It's pumping out some serious power. All for $102k.

Unfortunately I bet we see more rake on these trucks going forward to improve aerodynamics and push for better mpg.

Dodge doing dumb things again. GM and Ford have big naturally aspirated V8's for their 3/4-ton trucks. Doesn't matter though, the transmission will crap out long before the engine quits.

An aftermarket front bumper for that thing is going to involve a lot of cutting....

Those GM and Ford V8's have been used for years in towboats as well. Mine has the same 5.7L that GM has used for years. Newer ones are coming with the upgraded 5.3L and 6.2L and I've even seen companies like Indmar putting the 6.2L Raptor motor in boats

Small diesel is still the best for the 1500 class. V8’s are cool and sound great, but less cylinders + more turbos and batteries is the future whether we like it or not

It's definitely low, but it's a cleaner look than the tacked on air dams some of the other manufacturers are using.

If you want to tow it's 6 in a row.

All of the V8s are going away it seems. Even the new Tacomas are going to a turbo 4 cylinder over the v6.

The Ford 6.2L in the Super Duty trucks was a good, reliable motor (far more reliable than their Powerstroke engine lineup) It just wasn't powerful enough for heavier pickups though. Their new Ford 7.3L V8 is pretty good after they've worked the bugs out of it. Lots of power. I heard that they are about to cancel that one and replace it with a smaller displacement V8 within a few years.
And I love how the Heavy Duty 6.6L V8 Chevy/GMC is sort of just a stroker version of the old bulletproof 6.0L Vortec from the half tons, with incremental new tech and a lot more power. Sometimes the simple approach is the best. I'd like to see them bring a modern version of the 8.1L big block V8 back, but that's never going to happen.
