Will Muschamp. Bring him home!

I would absolutely love this move. But I doubt he would come back.

Hard to say but I would have to say Nick Saban because I am not going to say Will Muschamp even though he was the DC for Saban.

If Bo Pelini never came back and had that disastrous 2020 season he could have been included because that 05-07 defenses were something special.

I agree. He played and went to school at UGA. Would be hard to get him to leave Athens.

If Schumann leaves and Kirby passes him over he would leave

He's not in charge of the defense right now and doesn't call the defensive plays

The 2003 defense was the best we ever had.

Will muschamp defenses was always ranked in or near the top 3 in sec and top 15 in the country. John chavis were pretty much the same way but chavis had top ten defenses in the country if not top 15. He has had top defenses for over thirty years that he’s been in that position so for that fact I would say chavis first than muschamp and than Dave aranda. Do remember that defense in 2011 that only allowed 11.5 points per game, less than 100 yards per rushing, barely 200 yards pass per game

Who was here in the 80s I don’t know. I picked it up in mid 90s

The defensive coordinator from the good 80’s years is here now.

His name is Pete Jenkins.

we may have had better defenses but iirc, the 1969 defense gave up 9.1 ppg

Chief had a span of elite defenses. His latter years sucked, but they still would run circles around what LSU is putting out there now.

Archer did what Arnsparger said, he was a quick learner and great with the CB's but Arnsparger would have built a Dynasty!

Chavis around 2010-2013 ish

In retrospect, us losing our minds over the grand total of 2 bad performances in the 2013 season it seems silly looking back and realizing we still only gave up 22ppg that season

In 2014 his last year we only gave up 17.5ppg. Dak's MSU team as the only team who put up more than 27 on us that season and it was still only 34.

Offenses still just way different though back then too.

(Les Miles teams)
Actually Miles offenses owned the record book until Jeaux and Co. rewrote it.
Hence Arranda, who begat Bill Busch, who begat Jeaux, is tGoat DC in LSU lore.

The 1969 team was Mac's best and would have won the national championship had Texas not backed out of a gentleman's agreement to play LSU in the Cotton Bowl. The 1961 Tigers only gave up 50 points in eleven games; that is incredible.

Bill Arnsbarger was HC and also one of the best Defensive coordinators in the NFL before coming to LSU. I’d put him up there as one of the top2-3.
