But if there is a camera angle on the signs coming in from Team A's sideline for an entire game and I figure out what plays they are calling, why should this not be ok? Is that was is essentially going on? And computer nerds have gotten involved to place it all in a database and analyze it?
If that is wrong then why is it legal to watch any game film?
There is no camera angle that shows the signs that the teams get from opponents/TV partners, etc.

I understand. So the complaint is that staff members are going to games and taking those video themselves? I guess the only solution is to prohibit any filming in the stadium besides those authorized.

This is already against the rules.

Damn was the Big 10 this worried about Michigan getting to the point they would be kicking OSUs arse consistently?

Are you not going to quote the part of the article that says what is being claimed is completely legal within NCAA rules? Since some folks don’t want to present full context. Also from the linked article:
Poor buckeye bending over backwards to justify his team cheating after shite posting here for 2 weeks
Imo having a bunch of big ten staffers film the Michigan sideline and steal signs then pass along is way more effective/egregious then one person doing the same.
You can go back to being terrified of harbaugh though by being morally outraged I guess

That’s not what is being reported. The only claim is teams are sharing signals with eachother. It doesn’t state how the signals were stolen.

FWIW:
Big Ten's Tony Petiti was informed today that the two programs which fed Purdue Michigan's signals before the 2022 BT title game were Rutgers and OSU. Not clear if rules broken, doesn't directly affect UM's situation, but raises question re: relative competitive advantage.

This seems like some sort of spirit of the rule vs a technicality. Wouldn't the spirit of the rule be that sharing this sort of information is pretty much the same thing as deriving the information on your own via attending games or filming signs of previous games? The end result is the same, you know the signs of the opposing team.

In baseball there is a self policing mechanism. That mechanism comes with its own consequences. Sounds like this can be worked out between the coaches/players.

Allegedly what happened:
Schiano and Day both knew UM had their signs. They couldn't figure out how and theorized that UM must have gotten them from other programs in the Big Ten.
One or both of Schiano/Day went to Big Ten and NCAA compliance and asked if it was legal for teams to share signs that they picked up. They were told by both that it was above board and within the rules. So they passed on the UM signs they had to Purdue before the conference title game.
It wasn't until Michigan got busted by a third party firm that Schiano and Day learned how they were actually doing it.

No one likes OSU for a reason.

Remember Day's reaction when LSU beat out Ohio St for 1 seed back in 2019 and he had to face the sign stealing Clemson Tigers

If they cleared it with the B1G and NCAA as being reported, then one can have the opinion that they shouldn't have done it, but it was legal to do so.
And with what is known now, this minorly leveled the playing field with the elaborate Michigan had going.

For clearing future actions with the NCAA compliance office before completing them?

It was a joke because that's all MJackson keeps saying but doesn't actually follow
