A former employee at a Big Ten football program said Monday it was his job to steal signs and he was given details from multiple league schools to compile a spreadsheet of play-calling signals used by Michigan last year.

He also said gave the details to Michigan last week because he hoped it would help Jim Harbaugh’s embattled program and he believes Harbaugh and his coaches are being unfairly blamed for the actions of a rogue staffer.

So Michigan just happened to have a rogue staffer do exactly what you are claiming you were paid to do?

I'm just waiting for due process to play out regarding these unnamed schools by unnamed people for unnamed violations. You know what I mean?

Teams sharing info with eachother is perfectly legal. It literally happens every week. This will only amount to something the signs were stolen against rules.

Because Manfred/MLB protect their legacy franchises

Are you not going to quote the part of the article that says what is being claimed is completely legal within NCAA rules?

Since some folks don’t want to present full context. Also from the linked article:

quote:

Schools sharing signal information is not uncommon in college football, multiple sources in the coaching profession told SI, nor is it against NCAA rules.

So the entire article is “hey, other Big Ten teams are doing something allowed within NCAA rules!”

I don't even know their signs and I can call the plays out from my living room.

It is not the same.

When you have an entire system and database invested into your opponents games recording their movements and actions to decrypt their calls professionally.... then you rely so much on this system the guy who runs it works directly with your coordinators and head coach during the games??

That is a crazily significant advantage and should be dealt with harshly.

Why is it wrong?

I guess I haven't really delved into this topic of sign stealing in CFB yet. But if there is a camera angle on the signs coming in from Team A's sideline for an entire game and I figure out what plays they are calling, why should this not be ok? Is that was is essentially going on? And computer nerds have gotten involved to place it all in a database and analyze it?

If that is wrong then why is it legal to watch any game film?
