We won't be able to figure any of this out until Zion gets in shape

It's like we have another injury and we're a month away from getting good Zion back. His effort is just different when he's in shape, and right now he's dragging everyone down.

The 4 wins were against mostly bad teams, which helps cover up a lot, including how good the CJ/JV lead version of this team might be.

Memphis 0-6
Knicks 2-4
OKC 3-3
Detroit 2-4

The worst part is he only took one game off, but he looked in worse shape last night than he did the last game he played. How does your conditioning get worse after 3 days off?

This is not a serious basketball team or organization.

The one person who checks him (CJ) gets no backup from the FO.

While I think the NY and OKC are playoff teams I hear your point and agree.

Looking at the schedule that 2nd quarter of the season is going to be crucial. By that point you will hopefully have Trey and Jose back, and Zion should be in better shape. Trying to hold of judgement to the mid-point of the season to see how that plays out.

Willie is going to earn an extension or get fired with how he handles Z. I don't think he's going to use kid gloves with him.

I also think Willie doesn't like Zion. But that's another conversation.

It's not just about getting in shape. It's more than that.
He went almost a year without playing competitive basketball, and he still doesn't have the "feel" of the game back -- on either end of the court.

I was hoping 10 games, but like you said, it doesn't look great right now. If they can just all get/stay healthy until and through December I think we'll see what this team can and can't do.

That is wishful thinking with this team, but everybody ready to dump BI needs to be patient anyway. A blockbuster trade wouldn't happen until much closer to the deadline anyway. There's not much to be done other than let it play out.

The fact that we are once again talking about how out of shape Zion looks to start a season should tell us everything we need to know about this dude.

Isn’t that pathetic . Your best player , the guy who spent more time in the team facility than he ever has this summer is fat as a house and holding back your team . If you are on that tea. How do you reflect that?

The dude is paid an insane amount of money to be in shape but refuses to do it .

I don’t get the people saying he’s fat, he’s absolutely not fat at all.

Being in shape is more about your physical appearance, you have to build that cardio and endurance of getting hit all the time.

By being lazy as frick.

He is barely giving effort on the floor right now when he's playing basketball, a game that he always makes sure he points out that he loves, so you can only imagine the type of effort he is putting in the weight room.

It's so concerning that this dude has been through all that he has been through over the last 5 years and still hasn't matured at all.

I think we’ll find that Trey and Jose make a big difference.

How does that help Zion stop being lazy?

I agree. He is not fat at all. Many just have their predisposed agendas that come out whenever we lose. They have to blame someone. Not seeing a whole lot about how poorly Nance or Ryan played when they were on the court last night. This team desperately needs a backup 5 when JV is off the court, but a blind man could see that going into the offseason and nothing was addressed. Nance is not good enough to be JV's backup.

We're holding 2 way player Matt Ryan to the same type of expectations as Zion Williamson?

Not only that but Nance was the only net positive player that night.
