Zion didn’t seem on board with the rest day against Detroit

He should be more pissed about the rest day he took tonight on defense

I’m not making excuses for his shite defense but part of it may be hes reserving his energy since hes not in shape to play defense. I also think maybe him playing is best way to get in shape but maybe not. What bothers me is why is this team and Zion never working together when it comes to managing his own body? It seems like Zion wanted to play but it was the team’s call to rest him. Again not sure what the right plan is but this answer from Zion means he didn’t agree with it.

All he does is gamble on defense and quit on plays. Too busy clapping at the refs to get back on defense.
Your offense wasn't the problem in the game. It's your defense and effort on everything outside of offense.

His effort on offense when he doesn't have the ball on offense is a problem too.
He has played in 5 games this season and has only gotten 6 or more rebounds twice.

Meaning, if Zion wanted to play, then he needs to step up, overrule the team and say he's playing and that's that.
But 4+ seasons in, there's no indication whatsoever that Zion is wired like that.

I'm truthfully tired of watching Zion laboring when he doesn't have the ball. I get how special he is with the ball in his hands, but he's a chore to watch otherwise.

Honestly with that response he might have made a fuss about it but unlike other teams Griffin has a lot of control. Im not taking blame off Zion here but if hes not on board why does Griffin or the team force him to do shite.

I'm glad Zion realizes he should be playing last game. A toe the line response would be worse

Buddy gets too tired to play both sides of the ball and wants to be mad at the team. Maybe come into the season in shape.
This supposed “all-in fitness and diet” training he was supposedly doing is shite.
I’ll get downvoted but he looks bigger than he did in most of the years past

No one else sat the b2b out. They're trying to save him from himself because 5 years into his career he refuses to get in shape.
This isn't a team issue. Its ALL on Zion. No one else on the team, or in the league, has these problems. He's barely into his 20s, he could drop 20lbs in less than a month with a decent diet and half-assed cardio, but he won't do it. He's content being fat.

Do you think 23-year-old MichaelJordan would have been told to sit the 5 game of the season when he was healthy? Lebron? Kobe? Larry Bird? They would have physically fought anybody trying to get in their way to prevent them from playing in the 5th fricking game of their 23-year-old seasons .and in their late 20s/early 30s, they would have fought any healthy 23-year-old trying to sit the 5th game of the season. Zion should have dressed and dared Willie and/or Griff to physically prevent him from playing in that game. Gayle too if she wanted to get involved. But he’s a fat arse bitch who doesn’t give a shite. Hey him the frick out with the quickness.

Agreed. Zion's defense when he had to switch on to Trae was laughable. He tries for a second to stay in front then gets beat and just pokes at the ball.
Atlanta was very aware that Z vs Trae was a mismatch. Trae had a frickin field day out there in the second half. I feel like Zion has the lateral quickness to stay in front of almost anybody ( of course he's a freak athlete), but maybe he doesn't? Think it's gotta be a lack of discipline or effort. What do y'all think?

Willie said that the rest day was part of the plan before the season started and that Zion was on board with that plan.
I don't think that Zion was mad about the rest day. He was mad because they lost and he didn't play well.

I'm so sick of fatter James Harden

To be fair. I think the shot clock was running out. And trae has been known to shoot those.

Someone posted a shot chart of all the long ball 3s last season I believe, and Steph was the only one with an actual decent percentage from well beyond the 3 point line. Dame wasn't good and Trae was bad IIRC. I'm not saying don't guard them at all, but like you said, you want them to take a semi contested 30+ footer unless it's Steph.
