Would you entertain someone like KJ at LSU?
Hard pass. Even if he wanted to come here, he's not an upgrade over Nuss (especially when Nuss will get a full off-season to work out with the 1's).
We've been working towards an offense that dramatically supports JD's skill-set, along with our RB's and WR's. Nuss isn't as much of a runner, but he has a cannon for and would be a far better fit for how the rest of the offense will likely look next year.

Yes, Nuss is the guy. He’s paid his dues. Skill set is solid.
I suspect the current plan is that Nuss take over the starting job next season. However I think a coach has a duty to explore all opportunities to improve his roster (if possible). No one knows right now what QBs will be in the portal in the offseason. It is entirely possible there may be someone the coaches think is better than Nuss. That's not likely. But not impossible either.
Just because someone has "paid their dues" doesn't mean the staff shouldn't seize a better option if it is available. Two years ago MANY on here were angry (or at least disgruntled) that LSU took a transfer from Arizona St. when they had a 6th year senior (Brennan) who had "paid his dues" and decided to return to LSU after initially seeking a transfer. Is any rationale fan today still angry that LSU took Daniels when it looked like their starting QB was already on the roster?

Not sure we can afford him

Unlike KJ, I think that could work - assuming that Nuss isn't the guy for next year (not likely).
And KU is 6-2 on the year, likely heading to a really good bowl game.
My opinion (full disclosure - I live in KC) is that Jalen would opt to stay at KU for another year before leaving for another program. Especially with OU and TexaSS leaving for the SEC, KU could have a real shot at being conference champs next year.

The second half of the SECCG where he torched the shite out of national champion UGA was a pretty good indication.
That is what I was thinking.
He was about as effective vs Georgia, last season, as any other QB they faced.
Better use that extra available scholarship on the defense, DL or DB is a far greater need.

Just when I think couldn’t be any dumber… you go and pull a stunt like this

He can’t stay healthy

The last 2 portal QBs have worked out for us. Sounds dumb to change that process now.

Nuss is the guy AND LSU goes portal shopping for depth. Probably grab a player with 2 years left to be depth this year and a potential bridge through 2025.

Which "Portal QB" is having a great year? One that you would love to have leading the Tigers next season?
I doubt a top QB wants to come here and compete with Nuss for the starting position, when he can go other places and be guaranteed a starting position.

I just said Jalen Daniels because of the name.
Although I did read that he is likely to not come back this year to preserve his eligibility. Leipold may be at another school next year and could bring Daniels with him, or he could go back to his hometown Los Angeles and play for USC next year and replace Caleb Williams.

Wait a minute now, for the last two years all I’ve been hearing is how Nuss should be the guy, he’s ready, we would win a title if Nuss was starting, and now we questioning if he’s even good enough to win the job next year? LMAO
My gosh what a turn of events
