I doubt two things very seriously:
1. The 911 call connected when the first round left the chamber.
2. The dude who indiscriminately murdered double digit innocents got back in his Subaru to drive the speed limit and obey traffic laws.

Reminds me of the Joe Constance murders in lake charles. I don't think he's ever been located.

Sounds like it was probably a case of having deteriorating mental health while losing his hearing so he thought people in public places were talking about about him, which made him paranoid.
That's different than a schizophrenic hearing voices plus he's a little old for onset of that disease.

It all depends on what “gun” they found in his car if it wasn’t the AR 15 he used in the shootings and some other gun I can see that happening

Robert fisher killed his family and burned down his house then vanished into the mountains never to be found. He was on the FBI ten most wanted list and then they finally removed him from it. He was the outdoorsman type also.
