Always thought it strange that he became almost an antihero while being a resurrected child murderer.

I caught the Depp kill scene when I was 8 or 9 years old. It scared the ever loving shite out of me. To this day, I can’t find the motivation to watch any of the Elm St movies. I’ll watch any other ones but that series. Not sure why, but it left a permanent anxiety mark.

my brother and his girlfriend thought it would be a good idea to let me watch it when I was probably 6. Freddy was definitely #1 on my terror list as a kid. the worst was waking up in the middle of the night, too scared to be awake in the dark and too scared to go to sleep

wish they would have kept Freddy scary throughout the series instead of becoming a caricature of himself.

If they'd done that we wouldn't have gotten stuff like the soul pizza LINK or the roach motel LINK.

I saw Dokken in concert the year this movie came out. They did not play this song.

The story about shooting the video was so good. Doing coke off the Freddy glove and the guitarist being too messed to break through the pre-broken wall lol

Which one had Freddy driving school bus?

My mom never forgave my dad for taking me to see that while I was in elementary school

I refused to ride the bus for about a month after that

When he puts his claw up to his face and says “THIS…..is God” is such a badass line.

Yeah, you can't really get more peak '80s party time than rock stars chopping up lines of coke with Freddy Krueger.

The first nightmare on elm street in the original Halloween both kept me awake for days the first time I watch them as a kid.

I’m approaching 50 and I would probably still asleep with the light on if I watched those again

Part 2 is often referred to the gay one. They talk about it extensively in the documentary “Never Sleep Again”. The whole subtex of jessie being closeted gay in the 80s and the horror of coming out. Much like freddy “comes out” of jesse. Interesting concept when you look at it that way.

Aside from that. It is easily the worst of the series, IMO.

Part 4 was always my favorite. Freddy gets resurrected by a flaming pissing dog! The effects were great in that one. It was hokey but just enough surrealist horror to make it fun.

Well the director came out of the closet a few years after it released

One two Freddie’s
coming for you three four better shut the door, five six grab your crucifix, seven eight better stay up late, nine ten never sleep again.

I always thought Freddie was hilarious as a kid. I loved these movies when I was in elementary school. Maybe I was a weird kid though.
