The New Orleans Pelicans are acquiring G/F Matt Ryan on a two-way contract off waivers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Ryan – 38.1 percent from 3-point range in 35 games last year – provides a wing shooter for Pelicans, who start season minus Trey Murphy and Naji Marshall.

We know he can shoot the shite out of the ball for sure.

It's only fitting, since he cost us the Lakers game.

Hopefully we don't jump out to a 28-3 lead against the Celtics.

I think its a great pick up and realizing 3 pt shooting is a real issue on this team. Will really help with the Zion lineups until Trey is back.

That’s a decent 2 way.

So who are the 2 ways? Seabron, Ryan, and who else?

Gates

Seems like they prioritized shooting with Gates and Ryan

If everyone but Trey and maybe Naji are expected back for the opener, this is the way to use the 2 Ways. They also aren't forever. Once Trey returns, you can cut one of Gates/Ryan if you need someone like Jemison.

Gates and Ryan seem redundant. Both are already 26, so not young developmental types. Would have preferred someone like Jemison or tried to sign Bazley or Butler as a younger developmental type.

Jamison isn’t really needed with Zeller and Nance healthy. For a team desperately lacking 3 pt shooting I’m ok with signing 2 guys who shoot well. Maybe one hits, both do or none. In all honesty, this is a just moved based off preseason shooting and Trey’s injury, you can easily get off a 2 way and sign another guy based off team needs at that point. Personally, we already have so much young talent. I rather use the 2 way for specific needs we need.

When you’re missing two rotational wings in Trey and Naji you have to replace them. 2 ways don’t count against the tax so its a cheap way for us to replace them until they’re able to come back.

I hear you but they're 2-ways, we'd be elated if just 1 of them hits as a regular rotation player going forward.

Neither replace Naji as neither play defense. Heck, Keon Johnson is now available as well.
